Chats from the Country Lane
Chats from the Country Lane is a calm, honest podcast where I share reflections on men’s mental health, identity, and finding balance in everyday life. Inspired by quiet walks through the Devon countryside with my dog, Draco, each episode is a space to slow down, breathe, and talk about the things men don’t always say out loud — from relationships and running, to belonging and the search for peace. I’m Feyi Disu — a Nigerian living in the UK — and this podcast is my way of making room for honest conversations that remind us we’re not alone, no matter where the lane leads.

Running Through Life 22.02.2026 4:45
In this episode of Chats from the Country Lane , I reflect on movement — and how running has quietly become a space to think, process, and reset. This isn’t about speed or performance. It’s about pace. Sometimes, movement helps us make sense of things we don’t have the words for. And sometimes, slowing down is part of staying connected — not just physically, but mentally. In this episode, I talk...
Rest Is Not Failure 01.02.2026 3:28
In this episode of Chats from the Country Lane , I talk about rest — and why so many men struggle to take it without guilt. For a lot of us, rest feels like something we have to earn. We’re taught to keep going, stay productive, and push through tiredness. Especially as Black men and immigrant men, slowing down can feel uncomfortable — even wrong. In this episode, I reflect on: why rest often fee...
Who Do You Lean On? 04.01.2026 4:33
In this episode of Chats from the Country Lane , I reflect on something many men struggle with quietly — learning who to lean on. As men, especially Black and immigrant men living in the UK, we’re often taught to handle things alone. To stay strong. To cope quietly. But no one is meant to do life without support. In this conversation, I talk about: why men find it hard to ask for help the pressur...
Finding Your Place 22.12.2025 3:41
This Christmas week on Chats from the Country Lane , I reflect on what it really means to find your place. Not just where you live — but where you feel safe, grounded, and able to be yourself. In this episode, I talk about belonging, identity, and the quiet in-between space many immigrant men experience — feeling settled on the outside while still figuring things out internally. We explore what...
The Weight You Can’t See 07.12.2025 6:19
This week on Chats from the Country Lane , I open up about the invisible mental load many men carry — the quiet pressure that doesn’t always show on the outside. From a friend’s emotional post, to my first Man Down meetings, to worrying about my dad’s health, to travelling, falling ill, and ending up in A&E… this episode reflects what it really means to carry weight quietly as a man. I talk a...
Learning to Slow Down 16.11.2025 5:16
In this episode, I talk about something I’m still learning myself — how to slow down. This week reminded me that even in the calm of the Devon countryside, life can speed up quickly. Deadlines, family back home, running injuries, and trying to be present… it all adds up. I share the moment my physio said, “You have the time. You just don’t have the patience,” and how that stayed with me. We also...
Why Men Don’t Talk (and Why I Finally Did) 09.11.2025 6:11
On a quiet walk through the Devon countryside, I reflect on something many men struggle with — talking. As a Nigerian man now living in rural England, I’ve learned that silence can carry more weight than we realise. In this first episode, I open up about why men often stay quiet, what finally made me speak, and how small moments of honesty can lead to peace and connection. 🎧 Chats from the Count...
