And if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your faith is useless.” ‭‭ Why is the resurrection of the dead so fundamental to our faith as Christians?

In John‬ ‭5‬:‭28‬-‭29‬ ‭NKJV‬‬, Jesus said “Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.” What happens after death is dependent on our choices here on earth.

Luke‬ ‭24‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “..Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead!..” ‭‭ Luke chapter 24 gives us a detailed account of the resurrection of Jesus. So what can we from it?

In Colossians‬ ‭1‬:‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬, Paul was testifying about Jesus and he said: “..He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.” Revelation‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ also says “…Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth…” By Jesus Christ’s resurrection...

Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.” ‭‭ Sin came with some really nasty consequences which we all have to come to terms with. However, God has a plan.

We need to be careful and exercise some caution where the laying on of hands is concerned. ‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭5‬:‭22‬ ‭ESV‬‬ says “Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, nor take part in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.”

Acts‬ ‭13‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.” ‭‭ Laying on of hands can be used as a means to commission people for leadership or service.

Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”” ‭‭ These signs are to follow anyone who believes!

Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.” Laying on of hands can be used to impart blessings and we can see examples of this both in the Old and in the New Testament.

What is the laying on of hands about and why is it important enough to earn a place as one of the foundational doctrines? What spiritual purpose does it serve? One of the purposes we can see from the Bible is ‘impartation’. Acts‬ ‭8‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬ says “Then Peter and John laid their hands upon these believers, and they received the Holy Spirit.” ‭‭

Luke‬ ‭11‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.” Jesus promised to give us the gift of the Holy Spirit so how do we receive this precious gift? ‭‭

Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭16‬ ‭TPT “You can spot them by their actions, for the fruits of their character will be obvious...” ‭‭ When we’ve been baptised with the Holy Spirit and we allow the Holy Spirit to take charge of our lives, there are two manifestations that we should expect to see. One is the fruit and the other are the gifts.

Why do we still struggle so much with sin, even after we have accepted Jesus into our lives? Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬ says “So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”

John‬ ‭14:26 NKJV “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” As believers each one of us has access to a personal helper who knows all things, past, present and future and who can teach us everything that we need to know. Wow!

How was Jesus able to fulfil his purpose on earth and achieve all that he did? Acts‬ ‭10‬:‭38‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ says “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” ‭‭

Why do we speak in tongues? Does it add any value to us spiritually? ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭14‬:‭2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ says “For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.”

Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” ‭‭ There are different dimensions of speaking in tongues. Today let’s look at speaking with other tongues.

Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”” ‭‭ One benefit of the baptism of the Holy Spirit for us as Christians is that we will receive power. But power to do what exactly?

John‬ ‭1‬:‭33‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.” ‭‭ The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is something that a lot of people find it difficult to understand so let’s take a look at a couple of points to note regarding it.

Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh…” ‭‭ God gave a prophecy through Prophet Joel that a time would come when He would pour out His spirit on all flesh which means every believer would have access to the Holy Sprit, and not just a select few as it was in the Old Testament.

Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬ says “There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.” Today we look at more questions about Baptism.
