We Gather every Sunday at 11.00am at our home in May Street Presbyterian Church, Belfast and scatter to practice the way of Jesus in the rhythm of the city.

Beatitudes - 7. Peacemakers 14.11.2022

On Sunday, we continued our walk through Jesus' Beatitudes. We had Dave Dickinson sharing on what is means to be a people of peace. He outlined that we are Peacemakers and Sons & Daughters of Peace . Matthew 5:9

On Sunday, we had Jamie McMillan with us, sharing on the next of the Beatitudes - Pure in Heart. He shared that to be pure in heart is to have a single-mindedness towards the things of God alone. Matthew 5:8

Beatitudes - 5. Merciful 01.11.2022

As we moved to the fifth Beatitude, we had Dave Dickinson with us, unpacking the Jesus' lines " Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy ". He reminded us at heart of this Beatitude is to be merciful and to know mercy . Matthew 5:7

Beatitudes - 4. Hunger & Thirst 24.10.2022

As we walked through the forth Beatitude on Sunday, we had Stuart Newburn with us, looking at what Jesus meant when he said we are " hunger and thirst for righteousness ". He highlighted that righteousness looks like the pursuit of personal holiness and the need for social justice , and how an awareness of our need for God is what will help us get there. Matthew 5:6

Beatitudes - 3. The Meek 17.10.2022

As we continued our Beatitudes series, we had John Dickinson unpacking the third of the Beatitudes, 'Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth'. He shared that the meekness that Jesus speaks of looks more like gentleness, and that through meek people, God is going in a different direction than the world. Matthew 5:5 

Beatitudes - 2. Those Who Mourn 10.10.2022

This weekend, we continued our series on the Beatitudes. We looked at the second of this Beatitudes, 'Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted'.  We had Dave Dickinson unpacking this one for us, and reminded and encouraged us that comfort is for those who mourn , and those who have a defiant hope . Matthew 5:4

Beatitudes - 1. Poor in Spirit 03.10.2022

On Sunday, we kicked off a brand new series in the Beatitudes, unpacking what Jesus meant when He spoke those provocative words in the sermon on the mount. We looked at the first of those - Poor in spirit , and how this is a commissioning towards humility an awareness of our need for God. Matthew 5:1-16

On Sunday we finished our values series, unpacking the three core values that we hold here at Central. Dave Dickinson shared on the value of Mission and how we are to live a missional people in the way of Jesus; We Are Here, Here We Are. Acts 1:7-11

On Sunday, we were in the second part of our three-part series on our values. This week, the value that we unpacked was Community . Dave Dickinson shared on this one and reminded us that a Jesus-shaped community is a community of comfort and challenge. Matthew 4:18-22 & 11:28-30

On Sunday, we kicked off a brand new, three-part series unpacking our core values. This week we had Dave Dickinson sharing on the first of those values; worship . He reminded us that worship is all about Sight & Response . John 20:1-18

Teach Us To Pray - 9. Be Still and Know 29.08.2022

As we finished off our summer series on the topic of prayer, we had Dave Dickinson unpacking that famous Psalm that tells us to ' be still and know' . He reminded us that stillness  will help us as we learn how to pray. This happens through our Stopping and our Knowing. Psalm 46

On Sunday, we had Jess McCarroll with us, sharing on the penultimate part of our series on prayer. She was unpacking what it means to pray with our ceasing, and that it deepens our dependance on God, helps us prioritise God and persevere in the hard times. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-22

On Sunday, we had John Dickinson with us, sharing on the next part of our prayer series. This week; prayers of intercession. He challenged and reminded us that to be a people who practice intercessory prayer, we must have a Wider View and to Stand in the Gap.  1 Timothy 2:1-10

As we continued our Summer series, Teach us to Pray , we had Dave Dickinson with us, unpacking the Apostle Paul's command "Do not be anxious" and how  this is an invitation to know the Peace of God and the God of Peace. Philippians 4:4-9

On Sunday, we had Jamie McMillan with us, leading us through the next part of our series on prayer. Our theme was Praying in the Spirit. He highlighted that we are in a spiritual battle, however, we are able to Proclaim in the Spirit and Pray in the Spirit, even in the face of spiritual warfare. Ephesians 6:16-20

On Sunday we had Helen Warnock with us, unpacking the next part of our summer series, 'Teach Us  To Pray'.  She encouraged us to pray when we are under pressure, to persevere in the tough times and to know we aren't alone. She reminded us that pressure presents the opportunity to know God's presence. Psalm 118

On Sunday, we welcomed John Dickinson who shared the next part of our series on prayer. He unpacked the importance of praying for one another. He highlighted that praying for one another is Calling, Certainty & Courage. James 5:13-20

Church Alive 5.5 - Finishing Well 30.05.2022

As we brought our year-long theme, 'Church Alive' to a close, we had John Dickinson with us, sharing on how Paul's ministry finished well. He challenged us to be people who Model  and Witness Jesus in our own lives. We responded by celebrating the Lord's Supper together.  Acts 28:1-31

Church Alive 5.4 - In The Storm 24.05.2022

In the penultimate session of our Church Alive series, we had Dave Dickinson unpacking the next part of Paul's journey to Rome. He, along with 275 others take the boat across the Adriatic Sea and get hit by a terrible storm. Dave urged us to be a people Committed to Courage, Committed to Each Other & Committed to Sustenance. Acts 27:13-44
