Sales taxes are short in Sullivan County, and there’s been talk about an increase in taxes by 30%. Composting in bulk is now available in the County. Several farmers in Ulster and Orange counties are asking for the federal government to approve an emergency declaration after a deep freeze killed their crops. Ulster County is working to connect all of their emergency communications together.  

Lower lake levels at Kiamesha Lake have been reported so the state Dept. of Health is warning residents they must conserve water. A proposal for a private bus service in Monticello got spicy at the Monticello Village Board meeting.  A blighted property in the Town of Bethel is going to finally be taken care of. A man from Pine Island has died after drowning in a lake in the Town of Mongaup. A couple of men have been injured in Monticello over the holiday weekend, but nobody's saying how it happened.  A new zip code is being mulled for people living in Palm Tree and the Village of Kiryas Joel.  A new partnership has been announced for a couple of hospitals benefitting folks in Ulster County.

A man swimming over the holiday weekend on the Delaware River has been found safe after drifting about a mile away from his party.
