Maturity is not just contraception.  What about not being able to communicate wants? Needs? Desires? Why exploring what you love in sex is bad? What about one-sided sex shaming where being community dick is ok, but having multiple partners? 

There is this glorious construct of Black love – a Black man finding a Black woman and pair bond and raise a family. It was always something that I saw growing up around my family and the foundation of my childhood.  A theme in my book, Can I Borrow Your Skin, was that as an industrious woman focused on career was does the idea of Black love fade for an older, driven woman?

Even for those not in the sex industry,  Good Sex is a currency and peopel are naïve to think that it is not .Sex is transactional. Why not turn that orgasm into an opportunity? 

In the medical field, we need to foster equity of a diverse group of identities including race especially in leadership, and education. It is crucial for validation, belonging, and breaking stereotypes. For the next generations to seek medicine as a field they need visible role models

Real threat for health care is how insurance companies define pre-existing conditions now. There are many ways to protect yourself while also getting the needed information.

The old stereotypes about minorities in medicine still have not been dispelled. When we are not participating in the system, then how is the system going to get better care? 

 April is National Minority Health Month. I started this podcast, this year with encouraging people to go to the Damn Doctor. I understand that there is a lot of mistrust in the health care system. And for good reason. As a minority, we do not get viewed well - we are saw as drug seeking, or are not listened to and mistreated. We have options for our community and we need to invest in them 

There are those deaths that remove the rose colored glasses. I experienced that with my parents. I was in my 40s and I felt that I was an adult, but I learned very quickly that many of things that I thought that grief and life in general was very wrong. It was a total slap in the face. I found my entire life turned upside down, but not for the typical, I feel like an orphan reasons. I was no longe...

 The grief that is a haunting…where the song, painting, place, event sparks the most painful, but also glorious memories. This grief can be both by a death, but also a relationship ending 

 Rolling like tide, rough and engulfing. Grief can be unexpected and suffocating 

How we all picture grief when we first think of it (to celebrate my birthday tomorrow, let's get into something heavy, but necessary)
