On the first “Palm Sunday” Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey in fulfillment of prophecy. As He drew near to the city, many spread branches on the road before Him and shouted “Hosanna” to welcome Him. The King had arrived and His people were filled with joy!

The disciples had the habit of competing against each other and vying for the highest position. Their attitude reflected what the world valued, but not what God valued. By His words and works, Jesus reflected what was important to God, the heart of a servant.

Christian community can be uncomfortable, but it is essential.

The grind of life is marked by difficulty and suffering. Through contentment, joy, and faithfulness we can persevere.

The disciples asked Jesus, “Who can be saved?” The Lord responded by giving them bad news and good news. Concerning the bad news He said, “With man it is impossible.” Concerning the good news He said, “But with God all things are possible.” God is good and He has provided a way for our salvation!

The Valley of Hinnom is located just southwest of the Old City of Jerusalem. In Bible times, this valley was used as a garbage dump, where the bodies of criminals, animal carcasses, and trash were continually burned.
