Is there truth about God and thus a true moral reality? Or is it merely a matter of subjective opinions? Are all religions the same? What difference does it make? Honest questions about the Christian worldview deserve thoughtful, respectful, intellectually robust answers. So, what’s the truth about truth and Jesus?

The presence of evil and suffering can be an obstacle to God. If God is all knowing, all powerful, and good why does He allow evil, hardship, and suffering? How can you reconcile God, evil and hardship?

How can you explain God? Is God capable of being known? Can someone have a personal and practical relationship with God? Is God some distant, impersonal, unconcerned cosmic genie, policeman or grandpa? Today we’ll discover how you can explain God.

Is the Bible simply the work of men? Has it been changed through the years? Is it in fact what it claims to be, the Word of God? How can you know?

In this first part of our apologetics series we’ll consider what it means to love God with all of your mind. Through the series, you’ll be strengthened in your faith, encouraged, and equipped to know the reasons for the hope of Jesus and His gospel.

There is truth about God as revealed by the words, works and gospel of Jesus. Leaders, and people in general, can hinder or help advance the truth. All of Jesus’ followers recognize the privilege and responsibility to promote the truth. Although 3rd John is the shortest book in the Bible, as you study it you’ll discover how to promote truth.

We’re in the midst of a spiritual war. There are many false teachers in the world, deceiving people by spreading false beliefs about Jesus Christ. As believers in Christ we must be discerning about what we’re taught, making sure our faith is in the true Jesus as revealed in the Word of God. Only those teachers who teach and obey all Jesus said and did can be trusted. As we encounter false teachers...

The existence of a moral God creates a moral responsibility to God and others. The essence of that responsibility is to love God supremely and to love others as we love ourselves [Mt. 22:37-39]. The idea is so simple, but so deeply profound, and truly revolutionary. Our lives, the lives of our loved ones, and our communities will be transformed for good if we practice this truth.

Four times in this section we read, “we know.” John wants you to know and be confident that you have received the truth about God and rejected the false. John reveals three tests of transformed relationships that allow you to know.

Does prayer really matter? If you were confident that prayer would change you, your circumstances and/or your world would you pray differently? In the preceding section(s), John has helped us to understand how we can be confident that we have eternal life [5:6-13]. Confidence in your relationship with God produces confidence in prayer.

God's witness gives reason for confidence

For a rocket to escape the earth’s gravitational pull it must travel about 25,000 mph. The earth has a tremendous pull in the gravity realm, and the world has a tremendous attraction in the spiritual realm. God’s children overcome the world through faith in Christ evidenced by love and yielding to God. What does it mean to overcome the world, and what difference does it make?

Trust is essential in any meaningful relationship including relationship with God. Growth in assurance of love = growth in trust

Throughout this letter, the apostle John sets forth tests so that you can know that you have real life with God. The first test, living to please God, is described in this section. When you know that you are living to please God, you know that you have a relationship with God and have assurance of salvation.
