The testing of your faith tends to reveal what you truly believe about God. Daniel’s faith had been cultivated for decades spent with God. He had learned not to run from God during hardship, but to run to God in prayer. To speak, to listen, and to trust. So that he obeyed God in faith despite the intense testing. Daniel was dedicated to God.

One of the great existential challenges to faith is the paradox of why the ungodly seem to thrive and, God allows His people to suffer. God reminds His people that they only suffer for a relatively brief time and then enjoy eternity with Him in Paradise. Our faith is easily misplaced, but true faith is humbling ourselves before God and seeking His honor before our own.

There are people who will walk on hot coals for the rush to see what they can do. Daniel’s three friends have their faith tested by fire not to see what they can do, but trusting what God can do. Today, we discover the God who will deliver us, and the benefit of trusting Him.

God doesn’t need you to be perfect in order to be used by Him. By simply choosing faith and desiring to glorify Him, God can use you in your present circumstances. How can you live for God in the midst of a culture that pressures you to conform to values opposed to God? Let’s begin our study through Daniel and discover how.

We learn from reflecting upon experiences and applying the right lessons to change. The story of Ruth and Boaz is the story of love and redemption; and is a wonderful picture of the love and redemption of Jesus and His Bride the Church. Let’s reflect on our redemption and grow in Christ.

Redemption stories resonate with humanity, because we are all aware that there is something wrong in our world, and we have a desire to see our lives and world restored. Unfortunately, we often look in the wrong places and to the wrong people to make us whole. Where can we find a true hope of redemption and direct others there?

In the midst of a very challenging season of our lives, the Book of Ruth, paints a beautiful picture of God’s redemptive work in the midst of suffering and uncertainty. In the first chapter we discover our need for redemption, and the way back to God. I hope and pray that this teaching provides comfort and direction for such a time as this.

In the midst of a health and economic pandemic, our sense of hope can be challenged. Nevertheless, Jesus’ followers have the greatest reason to be full of hope. Since Jesus rose, we have a confident hope, even as we experience all the struggles of COVID-19. Let’s consider Jesus’ resurrection, our living hope, and experience a living hope together.

As we contemplate this day, we can call it “Good Friday” because it is the day we commemorate Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. It is “good” not because of the suffering that our Savior endured, but because of what it accomplished. Jesus gave His life so that we can live.
