Jesus uses a parable that describes a wedding feast. He says that when you attend a feast, you don't sit in an important place of honor because someone more honorable than yourself could come and then you will be asked to move. It is better to take a lowly place. 

Jesus using an illustration of a hen gathering her brood under her wings to describe Himself. This is a different side of Jesus. It describes His nurturing and protective nature. 

Jesus explains that in order to follow Him, you must strive to do so. The gate is narrow and many will seek to enter but will not be able. 

Jesus gives two parables to explain the nature of evil in the church. The first parable of the mustard seed describes how evil will come into the church and be found within it. The second parable explains how a small amount of sin can be incredibly destructive. 

Jesus cures a woman who has been bent over for 18 years. Rather than celebrating the miracle and the woman's new sense of freedom, the Pharisees complain that Jesus healed on the Sabbath. 

In these verses, Jesus emphasizes repentance. There are two different types of repentance. One is a total change of mind and heart regarding God. The other is a daily repentance from our sin and shortcomings. 

Jesus rebukes the multitude by admonishing them for their lack of awareness. This is a continuation of the warning to be ready for His return. Jesus explains to them that they don't fully appreciate their spiritual neediness. 

Jesus explains the need to be spiritually ready for His return. He gives an analogy about a thief breaking into a house. He says that if the master of the house knew the hour the thief would come, he would keep watch. Jesus exhorts them to be ready because He will come at a time that they won't expect. 

Jesus explains that there is no need to fear or be anxious for your basic necessities. He says that if you seek first the Kingdom of God, all these things shall be added to you.  

Jesus uses a parable to illustrate covetousness. In the parable, a rich many has too many crops and must build himself a bigger barn.

Jesus explains how everything done in the dark will eventually be brought to the light.

Jesus continues his rebuke of the Pharisees but puts His focus on lawyers of the law and they aren't able to receive it because their hearts have been hardened.

Here continues is his rebuke of the Pharisees. He talks about how they will be held accountable for all the prophets that were sent from God but were martyred. They will answer for their rejection of God's Word.

In these verses Jesus rebukes the Pharisees because their hardened hearts wouldn't let them recognize the truth of who Jesus was.

Jesus says that those who hear the word of God and keep it are blessed. When you strive to live a righteous and holy life, you will see your relationship with God reach new heights.

Jesus casts out a demon and is accused of doing so by the power of Beelzebub. Jesus uses a parable to explain that a house divided cannot stand.

Jesus goes through the prayer known as "Our Father" and also uses a parable to explain the importance of persistence in your prayer life.

This is the true story of Mary and Martha and how they were preparing for the visit of Jesus. Martha was preoccupied trying to make everything perfect while Mary was content to sit at his feet.

This is a parable that Jesus uses to explain what "love your neighbor" means. The Samaritan showed empathy and kindness to someone who hated him.

Jesus is pleased by the success of the disciples and their report. Here is the only instance in the gospel where it explicitly says that Jesus rejoiced. 

Jesus sends out seventy of His disciples. He gives them instructions on how they carry themselves while spreading the news of the Messiah. One of the important things He says is that they are being sent out as lambs among wolves. 

Jesus speaks to two men who desire to follow him. To one He says that the dead should bury the dead. To the other He says that no who has put his hand to the plow should look back. 

The Sons of Thunder are rejected in a Samaritan town. They ask Jesus if they should call down fire from Heaven like Elijah to take vengeance on the town. 

The apostles begin to argue about who is the greatest among them. Jesus sees this and takes a child and sets him near and uses him in an illustration. He says that whoever is least among them will be the greatest. 

Jesus is about to heal a boy from a demonic spirit. As He approaches the boy, he starts to convulse. Spiritual warfare often happens right as we are about to experience a breakthrough.
