The opening of the second Johannine epistle warns against antichrist deceivers who claim Christ but aren't born again. I believe the Antichrist himself will come out of the Body of Christ.

John closes his epistle with a warning against idolatry which was dangerous for believers then as it is now. 

There are some interesting verses here with an important history. Here John talks about the importance of the water and blood and its implications for the life of Jesus.

Those who are born again keep the commandments. In these verses, John explains how the commandments are not burdensome but rather, the key to freedom.

Love is one of the most important tenets of the Christian faith and our walk should be defined by love for all of our neighbors and love for our fellow believers. John describes the importance of love in these verses.

A warning is issued by John that not every spirit, prophet, pastor, or teacher that confesses Jesus Christ is actually born again and that many people abuse the gospel for their own benefit. 

John opines on the importance of love as a Christian. In fact, John obviously feels so strongly about the subject that he uses rather poignant language. 

Sinning as a child of God is the focal point of the opening of chapter three of the first Johannine epistle. 

Here John refers to the Big "A" AntiChrist and I discuss some of the Scriptures that give us information about him and the circumstances in which he will come.

The three different types of sin comprise these verses as John gives an exhortation to not love the world. 

At the heart of Christianity is the command to love both your neighbor but also fellow believers. John includes a tough rebuke that states that any believer who does not love his brother walks in darkness.

These verses contain some of strongest verses regarding the expected sanctification of believers. John states that a believer ought to walk the same as Jesus.

John addresses the importance of fellowship and confession of sins. Some of the most classic verses in the Bible are taken from the opening of this epistle. 

The Apostle John opens up his epistle with the declaration that the knowledge he has comes from first-hand experience with Jesus himself. John states that he has heard, seen and felt Jesus for himself. 

Many preachers and believers are uncomfortable when discussing sin. They don't like to talk about it. These verses discuss the importance of holding our brothers and sisters accountable. 

The need for patience and perseverance is highlighted in these verses. Believers will have enmity with the world like Jesus and will endure some form of suffering.

This chapter closes with insight from James about the futility of making plans. Once your heart is given to the Lord, He will use you in ways that you can't foresee.

We find a variety of topics addressed by James here. He addresses the danger of pride, the importance of humility and condemnation of judgment.

James moves from the importance of controlling the tongue to the importance of good conduct. Some translations use very pointed language such as being "without hypocrisy."

Bridling your tongue and its importance is the subject of James' writing in these verses. James offers some intriguing illustrations about the spiritual implications of the tongue. 

In these verses, James offers a different but complimentary approach to the theology we find with the Pauline epistles. James asserts that faith is undoubtedly accompanied by action. 

One of the most fundamental truths to Christianity is discussed here which are the implications that when one falls short in one area of the law, he falls short in all. 

In this portion of the epistle, James discusses the importance of being a doer of the Word and not just a hearer. He also stresses the necessity of controlling your tongue.
