Accountability is a bad word and we're avoiding crucial conversations that will provide us with important opportunities to build rapport with others and become better communicators. Today, I'm buzzing about the book, "Mastery" by Robert Greene. He says that in order to master a field, you must combine a child-like humility and the discipline that adults typically have. So why does it feel like, "youth is wasted on the young" and we can't seem to always tap into that youthful spirit? #BaxtersBuzz

Why does it feel like our success is never enough? Not to others, but to ourselves!? Today I discuss burnout and a term called, "productivity dysmorphia" (that is completely new to me). Whew! I was feeling super insecure in my abilities at work recently. Then I asked myself what was I trying to accomplish: Appearing to know it all, or trying to have the best possible outcome? Sounds like a no-brainer, but achieving the best outcome may mean asking for help or (gasp!) taking responsibility for your role in what isn't working well. #BaxtersBuzz

To get truly get buy-in from your team and ensure that the "why" is understood, there needs to be process ownership.  Jennifer Tankanow, co-founder and vice president of JointPivot, says everyone needs to know what they are in charge of and be held accountable by monitoring, measuring, and asking questions. #BaxtersBuzz

What's better than seeing your friends and family after too long away from each other? Not much! The people you care about the most are sometimes overlooked as you try grow in your career and expand your network. Find time for your loved ones like you do for the other relationships that you're trying to foster. #BaxtersBuzz

We must provide a safe space for our children to make mistakes and learn from. We must show grace to them because the world will not. Hold them accountable while helping them process/learn/grow. #BaxtersBuzz

The smartest and most successful people I know ask questions. A LOT of them! So why don't I ask more?? What are we afraid of? When we're more tolerant of people asking questions, we feel more comfortable asking them ourselves. Let's encourage learning, teaching, and curiosity. #BaxtersBuzz
