Bald Move Pulp

Special thanks once again to Sean Ray (veteran commissioner of Blood Simple) for having us check out an early effort by horror master James Wan (The Conjuring), 2010's Insidious.  Starring Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, Insidious delivers some solid scares on a serious budget, reportedly just $1.5 million. This is the first of a two part commissioned podcast series. Next, we will consider the sequ...

A.Ron, Cecily, and Jim meditate on the ending of HBO’s The Young Pope. What to make of Lenny? How do we feel about the attempted humanization of a pedophile priest? Are we good, or are we bad? The only thing we’re sure of? We’re breathing the same air. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Jim and A.Ron have seen John Wick: Chapter Two, and proclaim it "more of the same", and we mean that as a compliment. There's still some shaky plotting when the action dies down, but thankfully that only happens for five, maybe ten minutes tops and then it's back to headshots and stabbing galore. This film's body count is astronomical, and if you can't find some sort of grim humor in Keanu butcher...

A.Ron, Jim, and Cecily have a round table discussion of the latest two episodes of HBO’s The Young Pope. Shocking events happen, some involving people, some involving giant marsupials. But they are shocking. Plus, people try to fool the Pope, but he ain’t having it, is killing someone as a result of fervent prayer a miracle or black magic, Voiello and Sister Mary maybe in need of a private confess...

Congratulations to Nick Wilson, winner of one of two official "Bald Move Fantasy Football Leagues" that our forums play host to. His grand prize was a commissioned podcast, which we are pleased to present during Superbowl week. Nick picked a real crowd pleaser, Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Featuring ground breaking special effects, a sci-fi plot that doesn't give two craps about causality, and Arno...

When we began this podcast, we expected to have a lot of fun laughing at the crazy outfits and Jude Law strutting around chewing scenery left and right. But these last few episodes have revealed a show with much more substance than we were initially led to believe with the premise. Can the Pope continue to cow heretics and Prime Ministers alike with threats of no win situations and divine retribut...

Welcome to the 2016 Baldies Awards, where we honor the outstanding achievements in film and television for the year! This is the main event, the 2016 Baldies Awards Ceremony proper. Jim and A.Ron get into their finest duds and hand out Baldies to the deserving. Who's A.Ron wearing on the red carpet? Will any celebrities show up to accept their honor? And who takes home the top prize for Drama and...

Jim, A.Ron and Cecily are back with another papal powerhouse podcast, talking about the very strange and yet strangely entertaining fourth episode of HBO's The Young Pope. The Pope deals with the three stages of life; conception, birth, and death, in a decidely Young Popeish kind of way; intense prayer, disdain, and screaming at nuns. Sorry about the tardiness of our coverage this week, our plan g...

Jim, A.Ron and Cecily talk about the perplexing third episode of HBO's The Young Pope. Does anyone around here believe in God? Does anyone not? Is God real? How heavy is his weight? Is the kangaroo God? Your guess is as good as ours, and thankfully the show is gorgeous and intriguing enough to keep us watching even when we have no idea what's going on. Special thanks to Josh "Anubus21" Wilson for the conclusion of his three podcast trilogy (previously Screamers and PCU), Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.  Arguably the greatest Trek film of all time, and featuring the unquestionably greatest Trek movie villain, Wrath holds up like a champ. Featuring terrifying ear worms, a broad range of quality Shatnerian acting, Chekov screaming, and Ricardo Mon...

Special thanks to a bunch of Aron's gaming buddies, namely Hobbsam, CLUSTER_F, SheIsGeeky, TONYDETH, Jormagund, and Meatplow77 for coming together to commission perhaps the greatest superhero movie of all time, Batman: The Dark Knight. Featuring a Heath Ledger performance that won him a posthumous Oscar, this film has a unique blend of superb writing and direction, dazzling action, well grounded p...

Two episodes in two nights, that's the kind of papal performance you expect from a young, virile Pope. A pope with power! A.Ron has cooled a bit on the second episode, but Cecily and Jim are still picking up what The Young Pope is laying down. Will Lenny end up alienating every practicing Catholic on earth? Will the kangaroo ever have a speaking role? And how many pontiff puns can we produce, anyw...

Jim, A.Ron, and Cecily get together to discuss their excitement about the new HBO show, The Young Pope. It managed to surpass our already bonkers expectations we had for over the top ridiculousness, as well as surprise us with it's heights of cinematography and storytelling. Be on the lookout for more Young Pope, and more Bald Move TV on this feed in 2017! A.Ron's son Mine Dragon swung by the studio over the holiday break to record his thoughts on Star Wars: Rogue One, the infamous "Holiday Special" (00:09:20), and Disney's latest CGI masterpiece, Moana. Enjoy! This podcast is an abridged version of the full, spoiler-filled discussion available only to our club members. Check out our Club Bald Move page to find out how you can gain access to ALL of...

Special thanks to Kristen, who commissioned the first season of the BBC's trippy futuristic social horror anthology, "Black Mirror", for her husband Chris. Merry Christmas, Chris! We had a great time watching and an even greater time bantering about the crazy situations depicted on the Mirror. From pig porking to winning an argument with your loved one that you might rather lose, we try to tackle...

Merry Christmas, Jason Miller! Your wife, Aime thought it would be a nice present to commission you a pair of podcasts to open beneath the tree. This is one of them, 1984's cult horror classic, "The Toxic Avenger". Directed by Michael Herz and "starring" Mitch Cohen, Mark Torgl, Andree Maranda, it's a work of pure cinematic insanity of over the top and cheaply filmed gore, sex, violence, and sexua...

Amee Miller commissioned Transformers the Movie as a Christmas present for her beloved husband Jason. Featuring the voice talents of Leonard Nimoy, Orsen Wells, Petter Cullen, and Scatman Crothers, the movie certainly lives up to it's billing as "beyond your wildest imagination." For example, I'd never imagine an underwater chase scene involving muscle cars, mentally challenged dinosaur robots lea...

Jim and A.Ron just got back from seeing a little film called Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and are actually kind of divided in their opinion of the film. A.Ron hails it as the best Star Wars this side of Empire, while Jim maintains that it just didn't feel like Star Wars enough for him. Both agree that it is a darker, more mature look into the universe that's more known for it's light-hearted swas...
