Awake Us Now

Too often we seek a "God" who is recast in our own image; one who is comfortable with who we are and with whatever we want to do. We look for a little "sprinkling of religion" to season our everyday lives, but God wants us to turn to Him alone and receive real life, both now and forever.

The word "holiness" should not intimidate us. Through His Holy Spirit, God works changes in each of us to bring a new life in Christ: a life of both holiness and wholeness.

God's promise to deliver us is both in the future, and in the present time. What deliverance do you need today?

To understand Peace, we need to explore it in its Hebrew form: Shalom. Shalom is so much more than our English word "peace" conveys. We will discover the deep meaning of this word and see why Jesus speaks of Shalom as something only He can provide!

The Gospel of John Week 18 Scripture: John 13:21-14:6. We pick up with the rest of the story of the Lord's Last Supper that Passover evening. Pastor shares what the layout may have looked like at this meal. "The most foolish thing anyone can do is fight the only war you will never be able to win, and that is a war against God."

God had an assignment for Moses, but Moses had objections for God. Sound familiar?

God faithfully takes us through the difficult to prepare us to do the even more difficult.

The tale of Joseph is a great story. Yet there is more -- for all of Joseph points toward all of Jesus.

Until we forgive, we remain prisoners of our demand for vengeance. How can we gain release?

This week, we explore Truth #23: Real Hope is found only in Christ!  Many today struggle with a sense of hopelessness. But God gives us a promise of hope, a true "Living Hope" offered through Christ's resurrection (1 Peter 1:3-4). That promise is certain, it is found throughout His Word, and it has been demonstrated through history and in the lives of believers. It can speak into your life today.

The Gospel of John Week 17 Scripture: John 12:27-13;30, Isaiah 6. Today's study takes us through an insider's view of the final hours before Jesus' arrest and crucifixion. We open with Jesus words in John 12:27-28, "Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!" We see Jesus' heart he...

God can use your suffering, intense persecution, and even false accusation to work wonders.

The story of Joseph, with its dysfunctional family and broken dreams, is a story that we can all relate to.

We are to be strong in the Lord (with His strength), and to put on the full armor of God (His equipment), so that we are both prepared and equipped for spiritual warfare!

"Prayer in the Spirit" is about taking time in the presence of the living God and allowing Him to nurture, nourish, transform, and renew our souls. It is not about "give me, give me, give me," but about "mold me, shape me, use me."

Why does Paul connect prayer with the Armor of God? Because when we "pray in the Spirit," we have something that front-line soldiers have always longed for: the ability to talk directly with our "Commander-in-Chief!"

Did you know that the Bible is filled with consistencies. Note: that's not inconsistencies, but rather CONSISTENCIES! This shouldn't surprise us because consistency is at the heart of God's character. He says, "I the Lord do not change." But if the thought of God and the Bible as being consistant challenges you, then we hope you will join us for today's message!

The Gospel of John Week 16 Scripture: John 11:54-12:26. Pastor begins today's class with stats and information regarding people falling away from faith. He shares that stats of the younger generation falling from faith show the reason to be that they don't see any evidence for having faith, stating that in college they found out evolution is a reality and the there is no God.  However, we are livi...

The Holy Spirit interprets and explains the Word of God (the Sword of the Spirit) so that we can use it to counter and defeat the attacks of the devil!

The Roman soldier's helmet protected his head in battle; God's helmet of salvation protects our minds from the vicious attacks of the devil!

God says: "Fear not"; the devil whispers: "Fear everything." Rather than try to face the "fiery darts" of the enemy in our own power, we should raise the shield of faith God has given us! Ephesians  6:16 http://www.awakeusnow.com

The "readiness that comes from the gospel of peace" gives us a solid platform on which to stand firm in resisting the devil's attacks. Pastor's shares about an archeological discovery of "Caligae,' the shoes worn by Roman soldiers in the day that the text of Ephesians was written by Paul. Some amazing analogies bring light to today's verse, 'and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes...

When the Israelites disobeyed God at Mt. Sinai and tried making their own gods and rules , the results were deadly. The willingness of Moses to plead with God for mercy, even to the point of taking God's punishment on himself (Exodus 32:31 ) serves as a picture of our Lord, Jesus Christ, who gave His life as atonement for the sins of all. We learn of God's faithfulness to us in spite of our unfait...
