At the Movies with William Fletcher

After a fairly lengthy hiatus, I'm back with a look at the Best Picture nominees this year with a discussion on them as well as a few other categories and some changes to this show for the future.

After a brief hiatus (which I will explain in the episode), I'm back with the Valentine's Day special where we look at Fifty Shades Darker. We kind of ignore the film at points to go on tangents about our personal lives and our times at school. Also, my ratings for the Shyamalan films I didn't cover: The Visit - 7/10 Split - 8/10 Glass - 7/10 Old - 7/10

The second part of a full retrospective looking at Shyamalan's career where we look at the second distinct era in his career where his career begins to go downhill. 

Going into the first big group of episodes for the year where we look at the first five directed works from M. Night Shyamalan and get into discussions on the current state of cinema and child acting. 

Now that we've finished with 2022, we can look to the future and look forward to all the new releases of 2023 starting off with a look at Rian Johnson's filmography in anticipation of his new TV show, Poker Face. 

Continuing on from last week's episode (as well as the first episode of the new year), we finish up with the discussions on 2022 films with even more of a mixed bag in terms of positive and negative opinions.

Initially planned as one episode (before I realised it would be too long) so I've split it into two parts covering about half of the films/TV shows that I was tying episodes into.

Not a proper episode this week but I've decided to still release a little something for this year's Christmas special. 

A film that has been over a decade in the making is finally releasing with Avatar: The Way of Water and this week we are looking back at the film that kicked it off back in 2009. 

After some slight delays, episode 101 is out. This will we delve into a classic from the late 90s with discussions on the Oscars of the following and how relevant the film is today.

It's the big one. Episode 100. For this episode. I'm covering my all-time favourite film with Memento with a unique twist and we try something new. 

With the final episode before the 100th episode of the podcast, I look back at a beloved classic of the mid-2000s as well as a long coming guest with the film Enchanted. 

Concluding with the MCU for the year, with Black Panther and discussions on not just the film but also the past, present and the future of the MCU as a whole. 

Concluding the month of October with one final horror film with the 2014 film, It Follows. 

With Henry Selick finally releasing a new film with the release of Wendell & Wild on Netflix this week, we look back on the director's first film and his most iconic, Tim Burton's(confusing) The Nightmare Before Christmas. 

The episode is on time this week and it delves into a somewhat bizarre trilogy that delves into various realms of tangents and deeper conversations than was initially expected. 

Delving into a horror franchise (somewhat) with one of the many timelines that has been created within the Halloween series.    Apologies for some slight audio issues as well as being late for being a few days late. 

Before really delving into some horror films for the month of October. we are looking at the foreign language film The Battle of Algiers which delves into some political elements and the horrors of history. So I guess it works. 

The last (possibly) time I will be doing one of these monthly updates with a discussion of the films I watched in the prior month.    BTW, Audacity keeps updating and screwing up my audio so apologies if the episode doesn't sound especially great for this one. 

My special guest I had planned was not available to do this week's episode so I had to deal with what I had but it was a good opportunity to go on a rant about Hocus Pocus. 

With the upcoming release of the Marilyn Monroe "biopic", Blonde, I figured that this week should delve into a classic of Monroe's career with Some Like It Hot.

This time, the podcast delves into a straight up comedy with Kevin Smith's directorial debut Clerks and it's disappointing follow-up Clerks II.  

Another quick episode this week as I tackle the Disney film, Pinocchio, in time for the release of the live-action remake. 

A new setup with the monthly tradition of me talking by myself for around 20 minutes about films I watched over the past month. 

Going to another classic this week with American Beauty where the discussion goes some ways, some of which are not for everyone.    Apologies for a slight audio problem early on.
