At the Movies with William Fletcher

We're doing another classic this week. Well, rather a trilogy of classics with a look at The Godfather and sequels but will we find the films to be worthy of this praise? 

As opposed to doing a multiple episode run on a director's entire career, we have condensed this done to one episode (more out of time constraints than anything else) so we do a full retrospective look at Burton's entire career with talks of his various partners, the biopic genre as well as getting a bit deeper as we go on.

We conclude our Alien retrospective with a look at the more controversial films in the series and we even get a contender for worst film ever covered on the podcast. 

The next few episodes of the show will be massive retrospectives and this week will be the beginning of a retrospective of the Alien franchise with looks at the original 4 films as well as discussing the careers of each director and the Predator franchise.

After a more mature episode last week with Deadpool, we go to the opposite of the spectrum with a far more family oriented episode looking at SpongeBob SquarePants and the film franchise that has spawned from it.

The podcast makes it's return with a look at world of X-Men with a discussion on the Deadpool films as well as a look at the upcoming film and a state of the nation look at the MCU.

The show is back after a nearly month's hiatus and it's time to look at one of my favourite films with Little Shop of Horrors. Not only do we talk about the film but we talk about film musicals, musicals in general and Nicolas Cage somehow. 

How else can we follow up Bad Boys? Well, we follow up with another look back at Pixar's filmography with Inside Out to tie into the release of its sequel. Be warned though, it might get a bit emotional this week.

We conclude our brief Planet of the Apes retrospective with a look at Tim Burton's 2001 remake before really focusing on the Andy Serkis reboot trilogy to tie into the release of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.   Oh, and it's also the 150th episode!

We are starting a two part retrospective this week by looking back at the 1968 classic, Planet of the Apes as well as the 4 sequels which cause some slight anger and annoyance which leads to conversations on religion, the Simpsons and certain ethical time-travel problems.

We are diving back into the realm of Pixar with a look back at a classic work of Pixar and it's less than incredible sequel. 

After another brief hiatus, the show has returned with a retrospective look at the career of Alex Garland's directorial filmography plus a handful of pitstops with his earlier written work.   Also, apologies for some slightly warbly audio on my end. Everything should be back to normal for the next episode.

The show is looking back at another classic of cinema with a retrospective look at the Ghostbusters franchise with the ups and downs of not just this franchise but also the current state of cinema.

Going for a bit of an older film this week with a look back at the Palme d'Or winning and Oscar nominated film All That Jazz with some very long (relevant tangents) on what inspired the film and some general film history discussions. 

The annual Oscars celebration is here with a discussion on the 10 films nominated for Best Picture, the various controversies surrounding many of them and a general look at some of the best films of 2023.

The podcast has returned after a hiatus with the first look at a proper Dreamworks franchise with a retrospective look at the Kung Fu Panda trilogy. 

It's a special occasion as it is the 4th year anniversary of the podcast and we conclude the Alexander Payne retrospective with looks at the second half of his career, controversy and the upcoming Oscars.

The first directorial retrospective of 2024 is here with a look back at the career of Alexander Payne and there are some very different feelings towards his films.

We're getting close to the end of the year and we're up to the final tie-in episode for the year with a look at Chicken Run to tie into the release of its sequel as well as having a look at Aardman's past, present and future. 

Poor Things is coming out this week so this week the show will be looking primarily at The Favourite but also the rest of Yorgos Lanthimos' filmography with discussions on the films as well as the upcoming Oscars and bizarre comparisons to other new releases.
