We're back with Marvel and while this was intended to be a look at Black Widow, it turns into a general Marvel discussion as well as the upcoming Thunderbolts.

Another TV show discussion this week with a look at David Lynch's Twin Peaks as well as the prequel film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. We also touch on Lynch's other work and the evolution of TV.

More of an obscure choice for the podcast this week as we look at the 2009 film Daybreakers. We also talk about the Australian film industry, vampire films in general and the work of Ryan Coogler.

We're being a bit more offbeat with a look at a TV show this week with a look at the history of Black Mirror to tie into season 7. We also talk about Charlie Brooker's career in general, relationships and how much the show has aged.

On the flipside of covering Disney's live action remakes and Hollywood slop, we go back in time to 1959 to look at the seminal classic, North by Northwest.

We're covering another big collection of films this week with a look at Disney's recent history with the live action remake.   Apologies for some audio issues on my end. Everything will be back to normal in the next episode. 

Time for another director's filmography retrospective where we look at the career of Bong Joon-ho with the main focus being on Parasite but with pitstops at his previous 6 films before looking forward to Mickey 17.   Note: this was delayed due to cyclone preparations that had to be made that took time away from editing. 

The show is back with the annual Oscars episode looking at this year's upcoming Oscars ceremony looking at the Best Picture nominees this year and the surrounding controversies, some of the other major categories and the coming year of film.   Note: this was recorded before the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

As we are one to do, we're delving into the MCU for the first of many times this year with a look at the Captain America trilogy with a bit of a state of the nation address of the current state of the MCU peppered throughout.

There's nothing to tie into this week so let's just cover a film from Guillermo del Toro with Pan's Labyrinth. We also talk about his career, the weird customs of European film festivals and foreign-language cinema in general.

We're going back into the world of TV this week with a look at the world of Star Trek (primarily the Original Series and Next Generation). We also somehow get onto the topic of Doctor Who.

We're back with the second and final part of the review of the year as we conclude with the second half of 2024.

The show is back for another year and we're going through the first 6 months of 2024 to look back on what the podcast was looking forward to.

Two episodes back to back? You're goddamn right as we do the show's annual Christmas special with It's a Wonderful Life. It starts off fairly normally but at some point, we get to a discussion of Ricky Gervais so it falls into a usual standard for this show. 

Looks like there's gonna be two episodes this week as the podcast looks through the history of Wallace & Gromit with a look at the shorts, the films and the work of Aardman as a whole.

One final directorial retrospective this year with a look at Robert Eggers career to tie into his upcoming adaptation of Nosferatu.

We only did a Disney film a couple of weeks ago but they just keep pumping out new films so we're looking at The Lion King (again) along with the two sequels and the 2019 remake.

One of the biggest gaps in podcast history is begin filled this week as we look at Lord of the Rings (but it's not the extended edition this week). We look at the history of the films coming to screen, Peter Jackson's career and, somehow and rather inexplicably, a comparison between Lord of the Rings, Spider-Man and Paddington 2.

There's a sequel to Moana coming out soon but it's already been covered on the show so I guess we're covering Mulan this week? There's no real justification beyond the fact that they're both Disney princess films but we talk about Disney in general and there's a special guest who turns up in the episode.

Gladiator II comes out soon so it's time to talk about the first Gladiator along with the career of Ridley Scott, the general gladiator genre and the similarities between the scores of Hans Zimmer.   Also, in the episode we discuss the similarities between the score of Gladiator and Pirates of the Caribbean so here's a comparison of the scores along with The Lion King 2: https://www.youtube.com/wa...

After a hectic and stressful week for some, there's some wholesome content this week with a discussion of the Paddington films to tie into the new film out soon. We look at the films and just the general output of Paul King.

We're covering a real classic for this year's Halloween special with the main item of discussion being the 1982 classic with the 1951, Thing From Another World on one side and the 2011 prequel of the same name (which causes some annoyance to say the least from us). We also talk about poor film endings and what we find scary. Because it's the spooky time of year, you know?

We've had a bit of a lack of superhero podcasts this year so we're gonna tackle the Venom films which aren't even really superhero films so it barely even counts. Anyway, look forward to our impressions of the song and just general Spider-Man chatter.

You may or may not be aware that I covered What We Do in the Shadows already in the history of the podcast but that was early on and not up to the standards of modern quality so here's a more modern look to tie into the release of the show's final season with talks on the career of Taika Waititi, New Zealand Accents and Danny Trejo somehow.

We're dealing with the realm of comic book films again this week but this time we're going for the far more serious (at least it sets out to be) Joker and we look at the film itself, other interpretations of the character and the future films.
