Ashamed of Thrones

Doug is joined by Jeff Van Dreason of the 'Greater Boston' podcast.  Brian couldn't be bothered to show up for the season 7 recap, but it's addition by subtraction.  Without Brian's dead weight, the episode really breathes. So after a season that asked us to turn off out brains in exchange for spectacle, only this episode lacked spectacle. Sure, some things happened, but no surprises, no emotionally crushing deaths, worst of all...no female nudity. ...and now our watch begins.

This one was bonkers. It's been said by better people than us, but this is Game of Thrones at its best and its worst right now. Undeniably epic and beautifully shot, the show keeps asking us to stretch our suspension of disbelief past the point of propriety. Who will hold this show in check? Doug and Brian step in to make sense of the latest episode of Game of Thrones, 'Beyond the Wall.'

Wow! We finally get to see full-grown dragons on the battlefield and it was spectacular. Not much to criticize on this episode.... Who am I kidding? There is always something to criticize. This week, Doug and Brian tackle Season 7 Episode 4 of Game of Thrones, 'The Spoils of War.'

So Season 7 plows ahead at warp speed with Season 7 Episode 3,’The Queen’s Justice’. As “Snacks” points out, this is an episode of first and callbacks. You would think that would be good enough, but upon further consideration, most of it was a let down. Storing acting performances once again salvage an others troubled entry.

We are back with a super-sized episode of 'Ashamed of Thrones.' Spoiler Alert, we actually like this episode.... Well, most of it. Strap in because we talk 'Stormborn,' Episode 2 of Season 7 of A Game of Thrones

So, its the Season 7 premiere...and i couldn't have come at a worse time. I'm without my computer, I'm dealing with a cold and Germiane shows up. Despite all this, we have a great time basking in the glow of a new season of Game of Thrones.

Thank the gods, that is over.  We finish our entire series rewatch strong with the season 5 finale, "Mother's Mercy."  The boys are excited for next week's Season 7 premiere and also to gain relevance again.   Until then, enjoy this Germaine-free episode of Ashamed of Thrones.

So, after two weeks of shenanigans, Doug and Brian return to form.  If only we could say the same for the show. The "Season of Suffering" continues in the tough to watch penultimate season finale, 'The Dance of Dragons.'

We get in the way back machine and travel back to 2016.  Back when we thought dead celebrities were something to complain about.   This is the first episode we ever recorded.  A Trial run for of what would become the most well regarded podcast on the internet.   Sure, it's a little shaky, but you can see the seeds of greatness, what were planted in such fertile soil.   Enjoy!

Sometimes things get a little stale and you got to try something new. Something bold. Something different. You step to the edge, take a deep breath, and jump. Most of the time, you land flat on your face. But sometimes…if you’re lucky… you knock it out of the F’n park. We are knee deep in Season 5. This time we tackle a misery filled episode that isn't as brutal as last week's, so things are looking up? In 'The Gift,' we get to deal with dementia, spousal abuse, looming blood sacrifices and only the threat of sexual violence. ...hooray!

Universally panned as one of the worst episodes of Game of Thrones, this episode a brutal violation of someone we hold in high regard...the viewer. Also, Sansa doesn't have it have a great time either.

Brian and Doug are back at it again. This time with Episode 5 of Season 5, 'Kill The Boy.' It's not the worst episode in the world, but we are definitely knee deep in the Season 5 doldrums.

There are times when this show transcends being mere TV Show and rises to the lofty heights of fine art. ...however, this isn't one of those times.

Politics and religion and two topics you shouldn't bring up in polite conversation, and we wish the show would have both subjects on this "gem" of a episode from Season 5, 'High Sparrow.'

Like a little kid trying to play Tchaikovsky after one lesson, The Double D's start the Drone storyline and we immediately want it to stop. Thank the gods, Doug and Brian are here to make it all better.

Tyrion drank himself across the narrow sea, but Varys, like us viewers, had to deal with the poop.  We review the season 5 premiere of Game of Thrones, 'The Wars to Come'

Season 4's finale wasn't a disappointment. Despite a few "head scratchers," the guys enjoyed this rare exciting season send off.

Another Season, another episode 9. This one doesn’t disappoint with Neil Marshall at the helm, ‘The Watchers on The Wall’ takes on block-buster movie scope. Most of the argument is centered around where this ranks, in terms of all time great episodes of ‘A Game of Thrones.’ Also, Brain farts a lot.

If you ever wanted a long monologue about killing beetles, this is the episode for you.

Oh boy, this one's full of creeps. Dario sneaks into women bedroom to "surprise" them and Little Finger hits on girls by talking about how hot their moms were. Also, The Mountain smash!

So Tyrion's trial starts and it goes as expected, as the does the podcast. Brian is especially aggravated as we discuss the similarities between Theon's failed prison break and the Enron scandal.
