Loose cannon. How often did your parents or teacher call your efforts of being you as being a loose cannon? It's history goes all the way back to the 17th century.

Bosses, coworkers, our parents and even ourselves, we've used the phrase over and over again: Learn the ropes. But do we know how it became more than just a walk of life?

We hear it every day. People use it as their excuse to not check in at work or why a project wasn't completed. I'm under the weather. Really? Where did this come from and why is it still trusted even today?

Something so simple and so modern sounding really isn't. Steal my thunder gas a strange but true history and in its own way is a full view of who we are and have experienced in life.

My father endlessly shot this line out every chance he could get, "You don't know your ass from a hole in the ground." Where did it come from and why is something so blunt and shameful still being used?

Tell your story walking. In this age of people talk talk talking with no real message to take in, what's the best way to rid your scene with a pain in the ass self-motivated talker?

Wow! Sounds harsh! Could be our present-day place in history. This phrase has a lengthy journey and meaning coming from ships with sails. It actually has nothing to do with swinging cats.

You need your head examined. Ha! Can we count on our hands the number of times that has been thrown at us? It's got an amazing history and rightfully it wasn't about poking fun at another person.

Although we don't really write physical U.S. mail delivered letters anymore, this phrase continues to live on. Nothing to write home about. It's all-over social media and for some reason we care when years past that handwritten letter would've been trashed.

We always associate to the moon and back to Jackie Gleason from The Honeymooners. Did he or didn't he say it? If not, where did it come from and what's been its total impact?

He's a leak in the attic. Meaning a person isn't all there. A decision that didn't pay off correctly or any other issue that requires the mind to generate movement forward. Not so popular today because of not being very politically correct.

Friends have said it and trust me teachers and principals wanted to, "Don't give me your sack of shit." Where does it come from and who put it into our daily speak?

I can hear my dad's WWII military driven voice even today, "Keep your cotton pickin hands off my..." I'm not sure he would get away with saying it today. Why?

This one goes all the way back to 1512! Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Funny how something in Germany found its way around the world and the centuries required to make it possible.
