No matter how cold the weather or windy the day there's always going to be last years fall leaves still stuck on this years spring day. The same is true about we who are human. What are we clinging to that we should let go of?

I've always had my eye on how to survive. My father always reminded us to think beyond what we assume. Which is every reason why I study the path of the animals that call this forest home. I learn from the so that I might survive.

The things we're moving around in our forests. Some pick up stones and throw them into the lakes and rivers. Others burn up fallen tree limbs while others love to dig up plants to replenish their yards. We're disrupting something that's been part of the story for decades. What are doing to each other?

Each year I bring plants indoors to keep them warm and protected from winter's bite. This season they seem to be yellowing. As if to be throwing a childlike fit. Are we humanizing our plants? What else is getting too much attention?

When listening to music is set aside because of the presence of all things natural. Not even the crows and and hawks are screeching in the sky. Not even the rhythm of a quick chirping bright red cardinal. For now, all I have is a nice gentle cool fall breeze. You have to savor moments such as this because chaos has a key to the front door.

For 34 years two trees inside this forest have held each other tightly. In 2023 they fell to the forest floor still wrapped up in each others limbs. A love story. A forest dance.

I didn't write the stories about my parents homes because I didn't know how important it would be in these aging years. Nobody truly knows the journey of this forest except for the poet that's endlessly felt the love of every living creation in it through avenues of creativity.
