Apostate: JW

Society EN ↓ 20 episodes

My name is Andrew and I am an ex-Jehovah's Witness. The term apostate for Jehovah's Witnesses is always such a derogatory term. Many are so afraid to even look at someone who has been identified as one. Those who have successfully left the "congregation" see it as something we are proud of. To be able to think with a clear mind and have the veil of the Watchtower removed. Join me as I discover the truth about the Jehovah's Witnesses and share that with those who really need it. We would also love to hear the stories of your experiences with getting out and the aftermath.

Shunning: The Weapon of Silence 15.09.2025

Jehovah’s Witnesses call it “loving discipline.” But forthose who’ve lived it, shunning is anything but love. In this episode of Apostate: JW , we take a deep dive into one of the most painful practices in the organization — the weaponization of silence. From the Governing Body’sjustifications to the lived reality of families torn apart, to the 2024 “new light” changes, we unpack how shunning work...

Blood Doctrine and Medical Control: When Faith Costs Lives 08.09.2025

In this episode of Apostate: JW , we uncover one of the most sobering aspects of Jehovah’s Witness life — the blood doctrine and the Governing Body’s wider medical control. From refusing transfusions to banning organ transplants, from stigmatizing mental health to flip-flopping on vaccines, the Watchtower has repeatedly put obedience above survival. Along the way, countless lives have been lost,fa...

When Prophecy Fails: A History of Jehovah’s Witness Predictions 02.09.2025

After a short hiatus, Apostate: JW is back. And what better way to return than by exploring one of the most defining — and devastating — themes in Jehovah’s Witness history: failed prophecies. From Charles Taze Russell’s claims of Christ’s invisible return in 1874, to Rutherford’s bold promises about 1925, to the worldwide disappointment of 1975, the Watchtower has built its identity on declaring...

The Beginning of New Things 08.11.2024

Today marks the end of one journey and the beginning of another. Thank you so much to those who have listened and shared this in-depth look at the truths behind the Jehovah's Witnesses. I hope you will join me in the next chapter, Truth Over Tradition as we will explore what the Bible says as opposed to the traditions that have been so deeply engrained in us as Christians. Thank you all.

Should a Christian Wear a Beard? 23.12.2023

For decades, Jehovah's Witnesses have held a prohibition on men having facial hair, more specifically beards. There has been a calling from some of the branch offices of Jehovah's Witnesses for clarification on whether or not men should be allowed to have beards in the organization. On December 15, the Governing Body finally gave this clarification. Is this what you were expecting?

Reporting Time No More 21.12.2023

I know I am a little behind the ball in getting caught up on this news. I am sure a lot of you already have heard about this new announcement but here is my take on reporting field ministry time.

What Does It Mean To Safeguard Your Heart? 21.10.2023

I recently had a conversation with my Mom about no longer being a Jehovah's Witness. It ultimately led to the discussion of having limited contact to safeguard her heart against the possibility that I could lure her away from "the truth". Join me as I discuss how this went and what it means when Jehovah's Witnesses tell their unbelieving family members that they will need to limi...

The Afterlife 20.05.2023

Where do we go when we die? Is it to heaven? Do we fall asleep? Do we wake up in paradise? Let's look into the Jehovah's Witness's belief in life after death coupled with other Christian beliefs and discover for ourselves what really happens in the afterlife. Scriptures quoted when discussing Jehovah's Witness doctrine are from the New World Testament translation of the Bible. All...

Jehovah's Witnesses and Death 29.03.2023

My dad passed away this last week and right away I began to hear the rhetoric of the Jehovah's Witnesses starting. First I was told if I wanted to see my dad again in the resurrection that I would need to make a choice in my faith. Then close friends of the family began really pushing meeting attendance. I began thinking this isn't what it means to grieve the loss of a loved one. This week...

Signs of The Times 05.02.2023

How do Jehovah's Witnesses feel about the signs of the end of the system? How should we as Christians really feel about this topic? Think about these questions as we explore the signs of the times.

Christian Cult of Jehovah's Witnesses 29.10.2022

Sorry sorry sorry. I know I am a day late and I have received a few texts asking when this will be posted. Had a hectic day yesterday and as you can see this is my longest episode to date. So I wanted to ensure I devoted as much as possible to recording instead of trying to rush in between house cleaning yesterday. For those who are still Jehovah's Witnesses or studying to become a Jehovah's Witne...

New Light on God's Word 21.10.2022

Over the years, Jehovah's Witnesses have made many notable changes to their doctrine. Almost like God is talking directly to their governing body and saying, "Oh hey, I messed up on this or that, and I need you to release this information." Does God make mistakes? Has the Bible itself ever changed in a way to constantly need to be revised what we as Christians believe in?  This week I have re...

Baptism and the Jehovah's Witnesses 14.10.2022

Have you ever attended one of the Jehovah's Witnesses assemblies or conventions? Have you paid much attention to how they baptize their followers? These events are the only time Jehovah's Witnesses baptize their newly dedicated and only happen 3 times a year.
