Another World is Probable
Another World is Probable
I blog every Monday at www.anotherworldisprobable.com and this podcast is me reading those posts. For years people asked me whether I had a blog and the answer was always "no," until one day it was, "yes."I started "Another World is Probable" as a nod to the World Social Forum's annual theme, "Another World is Possible." There's also that quote from Arundhati Roy who says, "Another world is not only possible, she's on the way and, on a quiet day, if you listen very carefully you can hear her breathe."In my opinion, we've moved beyond the cusp of possibility and into the realm of reality.

Spirit is Here, Too 14.09.2020 4:44
My spiritual teacher says “God” is an acronym that stands for Generator, Operator, and Destroyer. That means God is not only the beauty in the world but also the ugly. That means God is here, too, in hellish circumstances. More in this week's post.
Boundary Setting Happens in Degrees 07.09.2020 5:06
I've been thinking about boundaries a lot both because it's coming up in my personal life, but also in the world. I have a tendency to be very "all or nothing," but the truth is boundaries aren't like that. Boundary setting happens in degrees, like a faucet, not a switch. More in this week's post.
The Price of Admission 31.08.2020 5:16
This year has been absolutely gut-wrenching for numerous reasons. NUMEROUS. I’m over this year. I want something new, and yet wanting isn’t enough. As they say, faith without works is dead. I’ve also heard that pain is the price of admission into a new life. Ouch. Say it ain’t so, but it is. When I think about creating something new – art, a business, a life even – there’s often an element of pain...
What a Difference a Day Makes 24.08.2020 4:11
Things are pretty bleak in the Bay Area right now. You'd think I'd be freaked out constantly, but I'm not. (I spend a lot of time freaking out, but sometimes I feel better.) I mention all this because seeing my mood oscillate reminds me not only are emotions like that, but also life in general. Change can happen rapidly. A day can make a huge difference.
The Interdependence of Life 17.08.2020 5:31
I watched an inspiring documentary on Hulu, The Biggest Little Farm , that shows how one thing is connected to another. I won’t give away any details because I don’t want to spoil any surprises, but here’s an example unrelated to the movie. The deer population in the U.S. is skyrocketing because human beings overhunted their natural predators : wolves, mountain lions, bears, etc. You know what hap...
Adapting is What We Do 10.08.2020 5:11
This week I talk about wearing a mask, murder hornets, and the immune system. All in the name of, you guessed it, adaptability. More in this week's post.
Take a Break 03.08.2020 4:50
When I thought about what to write today, the answer that came to me was, “Take a break.” I think it’s both a missive and a message, meaning, I need to take a break, but also other people need to take one too.
Stored Trauma 27.07.2020 5:23
The body responds to stimuli. And the trauma I’ve experienced in my life is always running in the background because it’s stored in the central nervous system . We used to think trauma was stored in the brain as a memory, but the latest research shows trauma is stored in the body. More in this week's post.
Broken Bootstraps 20.07.2020 5:25
You can probably guess what this episode is about. "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps." But what if they're broken? Or you don't have any boots? There's a difference between having a victim mentality and actually being a victim. More in this week's post.
Delusion versus Reality 13.07.2020 5:27
Right now I'm seeing a lot of conspiracy theories floating around. On top of that, Donald Trump typifies delusion. He seems to think just because he wants something to be true, it is. It begs the question, what is true? And what is reality? More in this week's post.
What Does it Mean to Be Free? 06.07.2020 4:52
I’ve been thinking a lot about freedom because of the July 4th holiday. I’ve been wondering, what does it mean to be free in today’s world when many people are not allowed to live their lives? But what’s interesting about this time we’re living in is there’s an added layer about freedom for all of us. So again, I ask, what does it mean to be free?
The Heroes We Are 29.06.2020 5:27
I've been thinking a lot about leaders and what makes a good leader. Are leaders perfect? Are they different than I am? More in this week's post.
Embracing our Humanness 22.06.2020 5:42
I had a very human weekend. I realized how much I try to NOT feel sad, but it doesn't work. More in this week's post.
Collective Power 15.06.2020 5:42
You can probably guess what this post is about based on the title. Or at least some of it. There is power in the collective and it's important for us to remember elected officials work for us, even the racist ones. We can use our power to force them to change laws. More in this week's post.
We are Made to Be Different 08.06.2020 4:58
I have only told this story to a handful of people but now seems like the right time to share it more broadly. It's about how I was zoombombed by neo-Nazis a few weeks ago and what it taught me about the way I show up in the world. You might be able to guess based on the title of this episode. . .
A New Civil War 01.06.2020 5:12
I've heard a few people say they're scared the U.S. is going to break out into another Civil War. I'd say we're already in one but the battlefield is on the internet, in people's homes, and on the streets. More in this week's post.
Being 'Un-American' 25.05.2020 5:58
In this week's post I talk about individual needs and collective needs. My viewpoint might get me branded as "un-American" because I'm not valuing freedom and liberty above all else. You've been warned. . .
Being the People We Want Others to Be 18.05.2020 4:55
I’m upset right now. I’m upset by callousness, by selfishness, and the expression of various -isms (racism, classism, antisemitism, etc.). It hurts my heart. I have so much grief that people can be this mean. I brought all of this sorrow to my meditation, holding the question, “What can I do about all of this?” and the answer that came back was the peace prayer that is often misattributed to St. F...
The Tao of the Succulent 11.05.2020 4:56
I had a whole thing with one of my succulents. You can hear the drama in this week's podcast, but you will not be surprised to hear I feel inspired by the outcome. And I tie in COVID-19. For this post, you'll want to visit www.anotherworldisprobable.com to see pictures of the succulent.
Planetary Revolution 04.05.2020 4:37
We're in an interesting time highlighting power and powerlessness. In many ways we're repeating history, including astrologically, and that means we're at an important point for a planetary revolution. More in this week's post.
The Time for Revolution Has Come 27.04.2020 5:12
We're seeing a lot of inequality, a lot of selfishness, a lot of callousness. All of that adds up to an opportune moment for a revolution. (Yeah, I said it.) More in this week's post.
Life After COVID-19 20.04.2020 5:09
I learned some interesting things this week, including four possible scenarios for our future after COVID-19. These come from a professional futurist so they're legit! More in this week's post.
Liberation Allegories 13.04.2020 3:54
This week I draw from Passover and Easter for inspiration on our current pandemic. They remind me we will eventually get through these hard times. More in this week's post.
Welcoming a New Way 06.04.2020 4:20
The other day I watched a facebook video from evolutionary astrologer David Yarrow Wood . He spoke about the current transit we’re all experiencing – Saturn conjunct Pluto. He said Pluto brings up fears so we can see through them, so we can no longer be motivated by them. Oh boy. This process of learning a new way of being started for me before the pandemic, but COVID-19 is upping the ante. I am l...
The Pearl and the Oyster 30.03.2020 4:10
You know the expression “the world is your oyster”? If you think about it, the phrase doesn’t really match the connotation we have with it. We say “the world is your oyster” when we want to indicate the world is wide open, that you have numerous opportunities available to you, that sort of thing. But have you seen an oyster? They’re closed tightly, they’re dark inside. They are not warm and inviti...
