Voices declaring we aren't enough is not a new thing. When the identity of believers in Colossae was being shaken, Paul pointed to a freedom not rooted in their performance but in their position in Christ. This freedom is still available today and is where abundant life is found.

We can have confidence in the midst of the unexpected because of the advent story. It shows us that God isn’t afraid of the unexpected, salvation has come in full a that he invites us to trust him.

How do we resist the downstream tug of pride and the me-focused lifestyle, this Christmas season? Philippians 2:1-11 tells us: Humility is the way.

How do we finish well as a church? We must lead like Christ, follow with humility and fight with hope.

To the degree that we identify with Jesus Christ in this life, we will suffer. However, to the degree that we identify with Jesus Christ and share in His sufferings, we will also be rewarded now and forever. And God’s promised rewards never disappoint.

Life is short. Time is precious. Don’t waste a moment. Instead, imitate the example and urgency of Jesus by resolving to turn away from sin and turn toward one another in love and service.

In the end, faith wins because Jesus wins. In this world, when we align our lives with Jesus, we will suffer. But when we respond with respect and endurance, our hope gives evidence of our faith and draws others to Jesus. So never give up. Remember the example of Jesus – His death, His resurrection and His victorious authority over all things.

Radical humility in marriage leads to blessing. When wives honor their husbands calling, they can bring salvation to his soul. When husbands build up their wives, their prayers become powerful. When husband and wife both refuse to seek revenge, it captures the attention of God.

When God says, “Get up and go,” our obedience is good for us and great for the Kingdom. From Acts 9, we see how Ananias’ simple “yes” to God changed history—transforming Saul from persecutor to preacher. God still works on both sides of the story, preparing hearts and aligning lives, and He calls each of us to pray, give, and go so that His name might be known among the nations.

We are citizens of heaven. However, as long as we remain on this earth, we are called to proclaim Christ – and not just with our words but also through living exemplary lives following the example of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

We continue to grow up into our full experience of salvation (2:2) by our shared worship of God through Jesus and our bold witness to the world.

To love one another like Jesus loves us – sincerely, unfailingly – is a calling beyond our abilities. But God’s word not only instructs us to love, His word also empowers us to love. 1 Peter 1:22-2:3

A Christians were are called to be set apart in a hostile world through adopting a renewed way of thinking, a way of living and a way of worship. 1 Peter 1:13-21

Suffering, then glory, is the necessary pattern for our lives because this was the pattern of Christ’s life. When we choose joy in the midst of suffering as Jesus did, our faith is revealed and our faith is refined. Because we love and trust Jesus, our confident expectation of sharing in His future glory carries us triumphantly through the greatest of life’s challenges.   1 Peter 1:6-12

Our hope is not in this life. In fact, to the degree that we set our hope on any of the empty promises of this world, we will be disappointed. Our hope, our confident and eager expectation, rests in the everlasting inheritance promised to us by God and protected by Him forever. 1 Peter 1:1-5

Followers of Jesus, in this chaotic world, it is easy to lose track of who we are and why we are here. So, from time to time, we need to stop and re-orient our lives around these timeless truths – we exist to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and we exist to help others do the same.
