Ambient Mix

"Upward" is a post-rock track at heart. However, it is not bound to the genre's tropes: It slowly and gradually crescendos, layer by layer, from an ambient soundscape and electric beats into a full blown almost shoegazy sound with overdriven guitar and drums. My inspiration for this song was the landscape where it was produced; the Swedish coast. That's where I sat down with a Teenage Engineering OP-1 and a Hokema Kalimba and started recording the waves washing up against the shore. I added a somber but relaxing Kalimba melody and finished the track up with synth lines and beats. The end result is an ambient/downtempo composition produced and recorded...
