He talks about the joy of teaching arts ­— ceramics, digital creation, perspective drawing, sculpture — to AES 3-5 students. “They feel free to express themselves without being judged.”

The Alamosa School District named Dorsey its Teacher of the Year for the 2025-26 academic year. He teaches social studies and AP classes at Alamosa High, and instructs the ROTC unit.

Ryan Mortensen, guidance teacher at AES 3-5, talks about Project 100. It’s an initiative to make sure every student has at least one trusted adult they can connect with at school.
