Have you ever seen a picture of a wolf’s eyes and seen something mysteriously menacing in them compared to those of a dog? Well, there’s a good reason for that. I explained on the show this morning.

Tomorrow night is going to be a delight for the tastebuds at the Charters Towers Jockey Club. The Annual Taste Of The Towers festival is happening 5pm with many participants cooking it out in the annual cook-off and you can enter into the "eat free for a month raffle". I spoke to one of the organizers, Arthur Wright all about this delectable festival. 

Today is the birthday of the original James Bond actor, Sean Connery. I did a tribute to him on the show this morning. 

I had another chat this week with Towers Jockey Club's Sally Kirkwood about their win at the Master Builders' Housing and Construction Awards and a couple of great events happening at the club, such as the Taste Of The Towers this Friday and the upcoming Charity Ball on September 3rd which features the Melbourne Cup.

I caught up with the Mayor of Charters Towers, Frank Beveridge about the upcoming Rush Festival, the alarming vandalism done to Boer War Kiosk & Defiance Mill Park, the upgrade to the Water Park and the Have Your Say Portal.

Whilst scouring the interwebs for interesting facts to talk about on the show this morning, I came across one that beach lovers will be excited to hear.

After a brief absence last week, I caught up with Towers' Jockey Club's Sally Kirk Wood about the Diggers Family Race Day in Richmond. We also talked about the Townsville Cup that's happening this weekend.

A great tribute I did on the show this afternoon for the lead singer of the rock band Def Leppard who became one of the only original members to play on every one of the band's albums, Joe Elliott.

You've heard of "Long Way Round" well this is the Queensland version. A couple of people are travelling by scooter from Ipswich to Townsville in September to raise funds for Legacy and visiting many communities including Charters Towers. I spoke with Trevor Benneworth and Ken, two of the organizers of this fun expedition.

A great tribute I did for Guitarist, singer, and songwriter for the rock band  Queen , Brian May, whose many hits include the 1975 song " Bohemian Rhapsody ."

The Hughenden cup is on this weekend and I spoke to Towers Jockey Club member, Sally Kirkwood all about it as well as the Melbourne Cup coming to Charters Towers in September.

As part of an upcoming show called Spirits of The Night. I researched and wrote a monologue about an iconic figure in Charters Towers history, Sub-Inspector Denis McCarthy who was a pivotal figure in the 1872 Charters Towers meat riots.

Lots of racing action is happening around the region including the Home Hill Drovers Day, the Hughenden Cup and Sally gave us some updates on how the refurbishment of the Charters Towers Race course is coming along.

Coming up very soon is the Oak Park Race Day as well as the Claremont Cup and the Stamford Races all happening this weekend. There have also been some major upgrades to the Charters Towers Racetrack which will see racing return to town in the next few months. I spoke to Sally Kirkwood from Towers Jockey Club all about this and more.
