Good morning. This is how I start my shows in the early morning.

In exciting news in the lead-up to summer, the Charters Towers Water Park is currently being built. I discussed this much-needed project with the Charters Towers Mayor, Frank Beveridge all about it. We also discussed nominations being open for the 2023 Australia Day awards and the Christmas Lights competition.

On the show this morning we played the unofficial national anthem- Working Class Man by Jimmy Barnes. I found an Adam Hills version mixing the lyrics from the Australian National Anthem with the iconic Jimmy Barnes' song.

After extensive refurbishments, the Charters Towers Branch of Metalcorp is now re-opened and to help celebrate they are having a massive promotion. I spoke to branch manager, Adrian Pinot about this massive day and what bargains people can find at their show room.

For the first time on the show this morning I had a great chat with the Queensland Member for Traeger- Robbie Katter. We discuss the long-awaited news that the Charters Towers Hospital will be getting a CT scanner, reducing the travel times and distances that rural patients go through to get treatment. I recently had a chat with the Mayor of Charters Towers, Frank Beveridge about the progress about the flying fox removal from Lissner Park, the recent Towers Got Talen that took place on the 14th, RADF grants and the Kennedy regiment Memorial Pool upgrades.

On this day in 1984 an iconic movie was released in the US, and solidified Arnold Schwarzenegger's career as a leading man and launched director James Cameron's career. That movie was Terminator. 

A former student of the Rhode Island School Of Design who went on to be a famous director, actor, and comedian who created Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show has a birthday today. Happy birthday Seth MacFarlane. I did a tribute to him on the brekky show this morning. 

Coming up this month, the Charters Towers PCYC have got a couple of community events on including the Seniors Morning Tea and the Skate Park Sizzle. I sat down with Senior Sergeant Bernadette Strow from the club to talk all about it and the many activities and classes they have on the the Charters Towers PCYC.

Coming to the World Theatre in Charters Towers on the 28th of October is the Umbilical Brothers brand new show: The Distraction, mixing cinema and live performance into a spectacle never before seen. 

On this day in London in 1814, a massive flood occurred in the suburb of Camden. But this was no ordinary flood, it was a flood of beer. Porter to be precise. Between 580,000–1,470,000 litres escaped and flooded the nearby streets, tragically killing nine and destroying two houses. I gave more details on the show this morning.

After the closure of the Northern Miner in recent years, demand has now grown for a local newspaper in Charters Towers. And now that time is here! I spoke to Xanda from the Charters Towers Newspaper, Sumpton’s Gold Rush Gazette all about their exciting launch of their brand new local paper.

As most of us are aware, an organization helping people overcome the effects of alcoholism is Alcoholics Anonymous.  I recently sat down with one member of the Charters Towers AA to talk about this important group and how it can help people overcome their alcohol addiction.

I had a quick chat with Noel Tunny , an historian about the launch of his new book titles- "The Towers Leads" highlighting the mining and military history of Charters Towers, from the Civic Club.

In this interview I had a chat with Charters Towers Mayor, Frank Beveridge about the council's recent inaugural business breakfast featuring people from local businesses, non-profits and education groups. We also talked about the recent flying fox migration and an event I'm sure citizens are all looking forward to- the Towers Rush Festival on the 30th of September.

With a massive motorbike ride from Ipswich over the past few weeks, members of the Radschool Association have arrived in Charters towers on their massive inland ride to Townsville to raise money for Legacy. I caught up with one of the participants, Roz Curran to talk about how they are going.

The third Hughenden Campdraft is coming up soon to raise funds for the RFDS. I talked to the Flinders Shire Mayor, Jane McNamara all about this and a whole lot more that has been happening in the region.

A sad day for the world. She carried out her duties with grace in good times and bad, through success and family scandal. The world has changed many times throughout her reign, both socially and politically but many still held deep affection for her. She was a member of over 600 charities and organizations and the second- longest reigning monarch in history (after Louis XIV). I always enjoyed her...

The Charters Towers Charity Ball was on last weekend and what an amazing event it was! I spoke to Towers Jockey Club's Sally Kirkwood about this ball as well as the Ladies Day Races at Cloncurry and Ewan races later this month.
