Inaction is action. Doing nothing is still doing something. When we are passive we allow something or someone other than Jesus to lead and influence us and those we care about.

Becoming people who fear less means shifting from an ownership mindset to a stewardship mindset. In stewardship we understand that everything we have comes from God, He owns it all, and He entrusts it to us so that we can care for and use what He's given us to love others like He would.

Jesus doesn't talk about money because He wants it or needs it. He talks about it because He knows it's the most tangible and direct route to take on the fears that hijack and control our lives. It's not a finance issue, it's a freedom issue.

SERMON SUMMARY: Jesus' arrival changed everything! Jesus didn't show up like a king. He was born in the ancient equivalent of a garage to freaked out parents who had been rejected by their own families. The only people that showed up were a group of shepherd boys who were among the lowest of the low in their society. But that's who Jesus came for.

When Jesus selected and called His disciples, He was saying: "I believe you have what it takes to be like me." Those He called weren't the cream of the crop, they were dropouts, flunkies, and those deemed as failures. This serves as a reminder that Jesus doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies those He calls to join Him.
