Acting My Age

Society EN ↓ 9 episodes

We've all probably heard someone say, "Act your age!" But what does that even mean? This is a weekly podcast where Amy Ray shares her experiences navigating young adulthood as a 23-year old woman. She takes us along her journey and defines what acting her age truly means for her. The episodes are meant to feel like conversations with a close friend, discussing new findings, manifestations, hobbies, feelings, all the popular buzzwords, society and culture and everything in between whilst stumbling through adulthood, trying to casually grow with the flow.

This episode is a 25-minute ramble about what stability means when you’re no longer chasing what the world calls “secure.” I talk about growing up, redefining stability, and learning to make peace with change, the kind of change that’s constant, uncomfortable, but somehow grounding. It’s about the shift from wanting life to be stable to feeling aligned. From 23 to 27, growth has been less about bu...

So,...

Let’s discuss: Careers, passions and capitalism in your twenties 29.10.2023

Careers are a scam, surely? "Do what you love and never work a day in your life"! Uhhh? Under capitalism? No such thing. In this episode, we talk about how the idea of a linear career design isn't very human. We also dive into how capitalism has tricked us into giving up the best years of our lives for a later *perceived* freedom and ALSO the best parts of ourselves by convincing us, "If you're go...

why do people have kids? 17.03.2023

In today’s episode, I’m playing ✨devil’s advocate✨ on some of the reasons people have children. Of course, there’s a lot of projecting and everything I say is based on my worldview (but maybe some things are fact, not opinion 😆). So stick around if you want to hear some potentially ✨problematic✨ takes.

prioritizing pleasure: instant gratification in a world of capitalism and social media 07.03.2022

Putting yourself and pleasure first has never been harder, especially in the current rise and grind era.
