A Sure Hope

Pastor Dave will be teaching on the aftermath of Israel’s failure. He will be sharing about how once Israel cleansed their camp of its sin, God gave them victory again. Pastor Dave will be showing how in the same way, as we allow God to cleanse us from our sin, we will begin to see victory in our lives as well.

As Christians, we are acutely aware of when we sin. Sometimes, the most difficult thing to do is to recover from our fall. Pastor Dave will continue teaching from the book of Joshua, dealing with the sin of Achan, God’s judgment, Israel’s defeat, and God’s prescription for fixing the problem of sin in their camp.

In this message, Pastor Dave will be teaching on one of Israel’s defeats, how it happened and how Israel fixed the problem. In the same way, we need to take note of what Israel did wrong and how one man’s sin can impact the whole community. Also, we will learn what it takes to make things right.

As followers of Christ, we often want to be used by God to further His Kingdom. However, we often don’t want to be prepared for His use. Pastor Dave will be teaching on the story of the destruction of Jericho. He’ll be telling us about what the Israelites had to go through first before they could be victorious.

God didn’t fight the people of Jericho for Israel – they had to go and fight and defeat the people themselves. Pastor Dave will be sharing the story of Jericho, and how the Israelites had to, in obedience, take the opportunity God gave them. Just like the Israelites, we need to avail ourselves of the chances God gives us.

We know the story of God’s victory over the city of Jericho. And we know that this story can be a metaphor for obstacles in our lives that we need to let God handle. Pastor Dave will be teaching us that without God’s power, we will fail. We need to remember that true success in this life comes only through the power of God.

The story of God’s leading of Israel into Canaan is one of victories and defeats. Because we have the scriptures, we are able to see the reasons behind the defeats. Pastor Dave will be teaching about those and telling us the danger we face in trying to win God’s victories in our lives using our own power and strength.

The story of Joshua is one of a leader willing to do whatever God told him to, in obedience and faith. Pastor Dave will be sharing the story of how God used Joshua to bring the people of Israel into what was to be their homeland. Pastor Dave will be teaching about how our need to trust God implicitly is just like theirs.

Do you have things in your life that you keep for memory sake? We often fail to recall all the great things Christ has done for us, which can lead to distrust the Lord's plan for our future. In today's message, Pastor Dave will show us that God's goodness in our past serves as proof that God can also take care of our future.

Have you ever felt God telling you to do something and out of fear you hesitated to obey? Well, sometimes the greater the blessing to be gained, the greater the battle we will need to fight against our spiritual enemies. In today's message, Pastor Dave will encourage us to have complete obedience. Resist fear. Embrace victory.

How do we prepare our hearts for what God has in store for us? By separating from the sin that so easily ensnares us and trusting in Him. In today's study, Pastor Dave will encourage us to have unwavering faith in order to receive the promises God has prepared for us. Are you willing to step out in faith?

Do you have obstacles in your life? We can often let those obstacles discourage us against God. But, in today's message, Pastor Dave will exhort us to strengthen our relationship with Christ so we can instead allow those obstacles to become faith builders in our lives. Become more than a conqueror through Him.

The victorious Christian life is demonstrated by having faith and by making that faith known to others. In today's message, Pastor Dave will talk about the faith of Rahab and how she trusted in the only One who was truly capable of saving her and her family. God blesses even the smallest of faith. Put your trust in Him today.

Do you ever find yourself getting impatient as you wait for God? The Word says that "He that began a good work in you will complete that work". Jesus has commanded you to go and make disciples. You need to be obedient in following the Lord, because eternal lives are stake!

As Pastor Dave will exhort us in today’s message, your life should be outwardly focused. You need to be living out the Gospel in a way that glorifies Christ and draws others to Him.

Worship is not something that should only happen on Sunday mornings. As Pastor Dave will explain in today’s message, worship should be a lifestyle. Every single day, you should be living in a way that glorifies the God who has saved you from the oppression of sin and given you an eternal hope.

As believers, as much hope as you have for your own eternal future, you also should be aware of the hopeless future that awaits those who reject Christ. As Pastor Dave will challenge us in today’s message, don’t sit idly by while the lost around you careen down a path that will end in eternal separation from God.

As a believer, you aren’t expected to be superhuman. You will experience hardship, and you’ll feel sadness and pain. But, as Pastor Dave will explain in today’s message, through all of that, you can have a joy deep down because you know there is hope. This pain is only temporary, and you have hope for eternity in Christ.

Have you called upon the name of the Lord? If you have, then you’ve secured yourself as a recipient of the greatest promise found in Scripture. As Pastor Dave will stress in today’s message, God made it abundantly clear through repetition in His Word, that anyone who calls upon His Name in faith, will be saved.

Are you good at waiting? This may be one of the most challenging aspects of the Christian life. As Pastor Dave will point out in today’s message, as you wait on God, you have a lot of potential to either grow in your faith, or to drift away. Will you trust God, even when He seems distant and His promises remain unfulfilled?

Everybody has struggles. This doesn’t mean God can’t work in and through them in profound ways. In fact, as Pastor Dave will explain in today’s message, it’s often those who struggle the greatest who have the greatest humility and are most aware of just how desparately they need the Holy Spirit to work in them.
