A Sure Hope

Many of us would be quick to agree that one of the biggest obstacles we face as believers is none other than ourselves. Doing what God has called you to may look daunting. Yet, you trudge ahead trusting in God’s call. You are too weak on your own, but unstoppable for ministry with the Holy Spirit!

When you are called to a specific ministry or work for the Lord, there’s a tendency to feel you must now rise up and do all the work on your own. Yet, as Pastor Dave will remind you today, God promises his spirit to fully equip you and provide all the help and strength you’ll need as you serve and obey him. Rely on Him!

God ordains and calls men to do his work in this world. God orchestrates details in people’s lives that lead and guide them toward their calling. Pastor Dave will explain how it is that God uses men to confirm and recognize God’s calling in other’s lives. It’s important to recognize what God is doing for others.

God directed Samuel in whom to anoint as king, and the instructions were out of the ordinary. Today, Pastor Dave will explain how God sometimes uses unusual circumstances or people to speak and guide his believers. And though it didn’t quite make sense, Samuel didn’t question God, but obeyed. God is entirely trustworthy!

Saul was the kind of king that the people of Israel wanted – handsome and strong. Yet, as Pastor Dave will explain today, Saul had no evidence of a spiritual relationship with God. This wasn’t important to the people. Yet, God knew Saul’s heart and knew what kind of king he would be. Outward appearance has nothing to do with being a good king.

The people of Israel were facing problems and instead of seeking the Lord’s direction, they demanded God give them what they thought they wanted. Today, Pastor Dave will teach how they rejected the giving, loving and powerful God to seek after a weak worldly king. GOD was the right one to guide them, fight for them and protect them.

When believers face great problems in the world, the reaction should be to seek God first. That’s what Samuel did. But, as Pastor Dave teaches today, the Israelites came up with their own, worldly solution they thought would solve their problems quickly. Instead – diligently seek God and He will guide you! He knows what’s best!

In order to be like the world around them, Israel asked Samuel for a king to lead them. And as Pastor Dave reminds you today, they were rejecting GOD, not Samuel. After all God had done for them, they rejected him in asking for a worldly king. Be careful what you seek in this world that is a rejection of God’s reign in your life.
