A Boy Walks into a Comic Book Store

We've been on a bit of a summer break, but back in June, we taped a bonus episode with Liam's class, got to interview his teacher and heard about his classmates' favorite books, movies and shows.

Robert tests Liam's knowledge of Gotham and the bat family. Liam does pretty well.

Liam is back and he's got an interview with a local super hero. Ellis Peters is a swim teacher and coach who is committed to swim equity and drowning prevention. Liam (and Jessie) have both learned a lot from Ellis and find out the role that comics played in shaping his life.

In this mini episode, Liam reviews his first Broadway show, Stranger Things: The First Shadow. He explains why he's so passionate about the Netflix series and its prequel. 

Robert is just back from a trip to London so he and Liam catch up on what they're reading. They go deep into the comic world (with a shoutout to Jonathan Hickman) and invent a new segment: Hot Takes and Flop Takes. 

This week Liam turns to his cousin Elias and uncles Cris and Joe to hear their comic origin stories and quiz them on their knowledge. And we hear how Liam got the nickname "Chops" and who gave him his first comic. 

Liam spends the afternoon with Margarita Menjivar, one of the newest staff members at Magnus comics. Margarita tells Liam how she landed her job soon after discovering comics and becoming a devoted Peach Momoko fan. Liam asks customers about their favorite villains and even meets a former Marvel employee. 

How does a comic book collector develop discernment? Robert helps Liam curate his pull list and gives some of his latest hot takes.
