709 Meridian

Along with the Seagals, D and Andrew head to the City of Angels for a seven year crime saga involving fedoras, comas, guys who look like Dean Norris (including Dean Norris), late eighties/early nineties hair, and Bruce Malmuth doing a lousy job directing.

It's the start of a new season. A Seagalson if you will, as D and Andrew head back to mean streets of 1988 Chicago (see POLTERGEIST III), where a certain cop is making sure no one is... D and Andrew head to Crystal Lake--or one of its meager tributaries--for FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VII: THE NEW BLOOD, bringing Terry Kiser back to the show for the first time since BERNIE'S 2. Listen as they discuss bad telekinesis special effects, people walking around in circles, and, knowing Andrew, blue night lighting.

Another graveyard, another resurrection, another Tommy Jarvis. Join D and Andrew as they journey back to where it all started, Camp Forest Green(?), for the first FRIDAY THE 13TH to put children in danger since the original and we all know how that turned out. They weren't paying any attention....

D and Andrew put on their Jack Trippers and their oversized camping backpacks and headed back to Crystal Lake to once again find Jason terrorizing folks with very little motive or relation to Camp Crystal Lake. It's back to Camp Crystal Lake... well, back to Crystal Lake, anyway,  with the first FRIDAY sequel and the introduction of a very special  mama's boy. D and Andrew play such watch-along games like "does that  person of color have any lines or a name," where's that light coming  from, and how old is that dude supposed to be....

This season, D and Andrew are getting downright despicable--Despicable  Thirteen, at this--as they dig into the most prolific slasher franchise  of the 1980s. D and Andrew head to the Great Plains for the first Disney Predator movie. Join them as they discuss the right kind of fan service, competent black levels, thoughtful action set pieces, and the franchise being in the best shape since Arnold swam in his pool.

D and Andrew commit to the bit and suffer through THE PREDATOR, something neither of them thought they'd be doing again. Listen as they talk homage, casting, rip-offs, and predators of all sorts.

D and Andrew head on safari to the Planet of the Predators with Academy  Award winner Adrien Brody, not Israeli Alice Braga, and Mr.  Mahershalalhashbaz Ali. Listen as we discuss cheap CGI composites,  poorly aged humor, and remembering this one being a lot better the last  time we saw it.

This time there are 2! Predator 2! Wait, maybe there are more than two. More than four. 9? Are there nine? Regardless, join D and Andrew as they travel back to 1990's near future for Stephen Hopkins's underappreciated sci-fi monster-slasher programmer, PREDATOR 2. Topics include Danny Glover as action hero, Bill Paxton, Stan Winston's make-up effects, pre-CGI composites, and much, much more.

As it grows hot, D and Andrew head to the jungle to kick off Season Five of 709 Meridian with John McTiernan's 1987 PREDATOR. Listen as they discuss action movie mainstreaming, Arnold Schwarzenegger's acting attempts, Bill Duke's considerable acting successes, and much more.

It's the end of summer for real this time, which means it's time for  SCREAM BLACULA SCREAM. Listen as D and Andrew discuss the film's missing  Academy Award nomination, the moody lighting, Pam Grier playing victim,  and the constant delight of Mr. William Conrad. For the 50th anniversary, D and Andrew kick back, put on their capes,  and watch BLACULA, the story of Dracula's "soul brother" (not really,  Dracula's a very bad guy in this one).
