5-Minute Fever

Jesus deems all food clean because what goes into our stomachs can not defile us. It's what flows from our hearts that defiles us. So go ahead and eat that bacon, but ask the question, what am I putting in my heart? Join me as we look at Mark 7:14-23.

The Pharisees challenge Jesus about his disciples. Why are they eating with unclean hands? Jesus challenges them back with why are you all lip service? They've created their own traditions and bent laws to profit their own agenda. Join me as we unpack Mark 7:1-13.

Mark 4 is what I call the parables chapter. It's where we find a small collection of parables taught in Jesus' ministry. This morning we let Christ himself teach us what this parable means, and then we ask ourselves, "What soil am I?" Join me as we read Mark 4:1-20. Reference: Mark 4:1-20 NIV

Yesterday we talked about how Jesus' family tried to shush him, and the teachers tried to discredit him. We looked at how Jesus handled his family, and now we're going to see how Jesus handled the teachers and those saying he was possessed by a demon. Has anyone ever tried to shush you because of your faith? Or tried to discredit you for it? Jesus went through the same thing. When his ministry started taking off, his family sought to hide him away, and the teachers of law tried to discredit his amazing work claiming he was a demon. Join me as we see how Jesus responds. Do you have people who constantly want your attention? It seems they're always following you around. Maybe you're a parent with kids who always want to be on you. Jesus knew this feeling. The feeling of always being touched, and he came to a point where he needed a break. Join me as we look at how Jesus withdrew in Mark 3:7-12.

Jesus decides to throw down with the Pharisees in the synagogue and redefine what it means to save life on the Sabbath. Through his example, we can learn that Sabbath is intended for the Restoration of ourselves and others.

The Pharisees are all over Jesus as his disciples pick grain on the Sabbath. Why are they working on the Sabbath? Jesus snaps back with what Sabbath is meant to be about. Jesus is questioned about his disciples. Why aren't they fasting like everyone else? John's doing it. The Pharisees are doing it. Why not Jesus? Simple, it's not time. Join me as we go over Mark 2:18-22 and see how Jesus shows timing is key.
