5 Lunch

IS ROMEO (not his real name) REALLY GOING TO PROPOSE  TO HIS GIRLFRIEND ON THE RADIO?   Earlier we told you that something big is coming with Better Call 5 Lunch. And when we say big, we mean heart racing, palms sweating, life changing big. Before the moment actually happens, we wanted you to meet the man at the centre of it all. For now, we are calling him Mr Anonymous. We sat down with...

Today we are marking International Day of Women and Girls in Science. And instead of just talking about the stats, we wanted to speak to someone who is actually living this reality every single day. Brenda Marx is a scientist who has built her career in a space that is still largely male dominated. She is passionate about research, education, and opening doors for young women who want to st...

To help us separate fact from fiction, we’re joined by Dr. Jakes Joubert, a cosmetic dentist based in Johannesburg who’s all about healthy smiles and real confidence. He qualified at the University of Pretoria, did his community service in Durban, and that’s where his passion for working with people, especially kids, really took shape. Since then, he’s gone on to deliver wo...

Is this LuNadTic really going to push things and get into trouble with his work-wife? The tea is going to get spilled.

A food item goes on trial. One side must defend it. One side must prosecute it. The country decides the verdict. The Defence Your job is to convince us this food is misunderstood, over-hated, or actually elite. The Prosecution Your job is to expose why this food is a crime against taste, texture, or society. The Jury Listeners. WhatsApp voice notes decide guilty or innocent. Today we have: B...

Alright, pulling up with us now is someone who lives at the crossroads of flavour and fire. From smoking meat and breaking down braai culture, to dropping music that goes off online and on stage. You’ve seen the food, you’ve heard the tracks, and you’ve definitely felt the vibe. Please welcome South African creative, musician, and braai specialist, Dali Danger.

We all lie. Sometimes it’s small. Sometimes it’s “I’m on my way” and you’re still in the shower. But what if someone could actually tell when you’re lying… just by watching you? There’s a man in South Africa who does exactly that for a living. He studies human behaviour, facial expressions, and the tiny clues we give away when the truth slips....

Earlier this week we got into a whole conversation about lying. Who lies, why we lie, and how people get caught out. We even had a human lie detector on the show, which honestly messed with our heads a bit. So naturally we took it one step further. We decided if we are going to talk about lies, we might as well do it properly. Real hardware. Real questions. No escape. We sat down with polygraph ex...

This week we are doing roasts across different worlds - from celebrities and fictional characters to historical figures. Each roast is exactly eight lines, back and forth. No monologues, no rambling. Nothing is off limits, but it obviously has to stay broadcast-safe. Clever, brutal, cutting. Stay in character at all times. Roast like they would roast. No explaining the joke. If it needs context, i...

Today on schooled we’re switching things up a bit. In studio with us is Tarun Khumalo  who competes in mathematics olympiads and is part of the South African Mathematics Foundation. Instead of testing the listeners, we’re putting him to the test and seeing just how sharp those maths skills really are.

Today in studio we’re joined by one of South Africa’s most talented and innovative beat makers, Cholwe Munyati, better known in the music world as Wichi 1080. Based in Midrand and originally from Zambia, Wichi has crafted tracks for big names like Priddy Ugly, Rouge and KLY, and helped shape some of the fresh sounds coming out of the local scene.

The tension between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B had been building for months through interviews, social media jabs, and fan speculation before exploding in public at New York Fashion Week in 2018. The confrontation happened at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons Party, where the two had to be separated by security. Cardi later said the breaking point was her belief that Nicki had liked a tweet questioning...
