Carrie & Molly discover the woes of backpacking with only one trowel. They head through stunning old growth forest and cross the Suiattle River. Molly and Carrie discover whether their good weather bid worked. They head towards Milk Creek and work through the brushy forest—part of the trail has even collapsed from the side of the mountain! On the first day of their North Cascades adventure, the group ascends Hannegan Pass through hordes of flies and heat.
