"You received without charge, give without charge" says Jesus. The Church seeks souls, not money. We see this in the fact that there is no fee for sacraments, for entry into churches etc. But also "the labourer deserves his keep" means that we should at the same time donate money to the Church.

“Being a disciple of Jesus Christ, whether it was 2000 years ago or today was not and is not easy. It is always countercultural. Even though we know this today we are being told to remain firm in hope. So, let’s stop trying to “dodge the knife”, that is let us embrace our sufferings and witness to the love of Christ boldly, remaining firm in our faith, hope, and love for Our Lord.”

Let us ask Jesus that we may make his teaching accessible to others in our daily lives, by our familiarity, each in our own way, with apologetics, the reasons to believe

Every day the Lord gives us an opportunity to 'rectify our intention' - to choose to do things slightly differently, all for the glory of God. Even if we've fallen into a way of being that's unhelpful for our life of holiness, we always have the chance to change the way we're going about things: while we're alive, nothing is ever lost.

St Peter appears tempted to compare himself (unfavourably) with St John by the Sea of Galilee. Jesus tells him to avoid doing this. We can learn from this to avoid comparing ourselves with others.

Jesus’ invitation to St Peter in today’s Gospel of “Follow me” is our invitation to follow Our Lord all the way to Heaven.
