Chamberlain and Chance

Everyone has found their happy place! Alex is enjoying the hellishly warm embrace of Diablo IV's new endgame. His warlock can do unspeakable things and he loves it. Chamberlain has disappeared under the hood of Forza Horizon 6, the best Forza Horizon game since Forza Horizon 5 (if it's not broke, don't fix it). And Chance embarrasses mouse cheating console Overwatch players like no one...

Chamberlain is not playing Crimson Desert because it is a terrible, terrible game. He also did not play Mixtape because it was a game at all, but because it brought good feels to his cold, gen-x heart. Alex is not playing anything at all other than Diablo 4, as it has its devilish hooks in him once again. And Chance is not playing any more Starfield, declaring it the WORST BETHESDA RPG EVAR.

Alex took a trip to a very famous theme park last week on a bus with many, many filthy children. It should come as no surprise that he is not quite ill and can barely speak. Chance showed no mercy, complaining about Starfield before deserting it for Soros. And Chamberlain makes several mistakes, the worst of which is starting to play Diablo IV again. He may never be seen again.

Chamberlain and Chance fight about ninjas as Chance (and most critics) believe that Shinobi Art of Vengeance was the better 2D ninja game of 2025 and Chamberlain, after sampling it, firmly believes that Ninja Gaiden Ragebound is superior. He does like his pixels. Chance also continues to fight the bugs in Starfield. And Alex returns to Borderlands 4 to make sure that it is bad. And it is.Chamberla...

It took something like 2 years, but Starfield is finally available on a Sony console and Chance is not only playing, but begrudgingly enjoying at least some of it. Alex is thrilled that Chance has been introduce to one of his favorite games and wants to tell him all about it. And Chamberlain laments getting older and less able to be frightened by video games after a mediocre and very safe feeling...

Chamberlain continues his quest to only play games that no one else has heard of, finishing Metal Eden and Voidwrought, the latter being as blatant of a Hollow Knight ripoff as is allowed by law. Chance both loves and hates Ghost of Yotei legends. He hates he cannot make his samurai look exactly like Zatoichi, but this is not enough to keep him from playing it. Alex found Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on sale, thereby paying exactly the right price for it, and still doesn't like it enough to prevent starting another playthrough of Final Fantasy XII. Chamberlain has devoted himself to Slay the Spire 2. He can spare time for almost nothing else. There is a lesson here about resilience, but he refuses to learn it. Alex is also a disciple of the spire, but he has the min maxing of PS2 emulators to tend to. And Chance dismisses card based roguelike as a fad, instead donning his bloody samurai gear for Ghost of Yotei Legends.

Everybody get's something this week. In fact, Alex gets two things. Chance loves almost everything about Resident Evil Requiem, from the stealth to the action to the end game spoilers (SPOILERS!). Chamberlain didn't like it, but he loves Slay the Spire 2, as it fits in directly with his other, even more expensive, addiction. And Alex is living large, loving both games, and generally being...

Hooray for an unexpected Sony State of Play! We aren't sure how the original God of War trilogy can me remade in the present day, either, but it is fun to think about. Also this week, Chance kills and gets killed by a cat with a jet pack. Alex gets cats killed in Mewgenics. And Chamberlain decides that realistic-ish military shooters give him the ick after playing Battlefield 6.

In a shocking turn of events, Chamberlain has seen a movie in the theater and lived to tell the tale. Hamnet may have gone mostly over his head, but at least an attempt was made. Alex takes his turn at indie metroidvanias with Guns of Fury. And Chance turns to Star Wars Outlaws to sooth his dissatisfaction with Horizon Forbidden West (which he turned to because Blizzard nerfed Tracer again). Plus...

In an odd moment of agreement, Chamberlain and Chance agree that MIO: Memories in Orbit is not a good game. The only difference being that it took Chance less then two hours to come to the decision while it took Chamberlain close to 20 and a nearly broken controller. It's January, which means not much new to play and even less news. Alex found Victory Heat Rally, a tight kart racer with a very anime aesthetic. Chamberlain finished Madragora (his favorite metroidvania of last year) and is being brutalized by cthulu beasties in Forgive Me Father 2. And Chance has officially done all there is to do in Silksong and has the platinum trophy to prove it.

Happy New Year! We played some games while we were gone, some of them even new. Chance learned a new character in Overwatch 2 and made several more runs at Silksong. Chamberlain finished Ghost of Yotei, a game he likens to the most comforting comfort food available. And Alex discovered a tiny part of himself that loves video-pinball and promptly gave that part his wallet.

It's time for the only game of the year list that matters: completely unsponsored and horribly biased. This time around we learn that Chance was forcibly sent to French immersion school as a child and has never gotten over it, Chamberlain actually has feelings and Alex has more patience and affection for puzzles than should be possible.
