As we close out in Chapter 2, Paul has been writing about what it means to ‘walk in him’ as you ‘received him’ - by living in and out of what Christ has done for you and avoiding anything that would distraction, disconnect or disqualify you. And now he gets to the root issue and his final warning…revealing the lie and lure of legalism - by showing us how legalism distorts the work Christ has done...

As we move along in Chapter 2, Paul writes about the "many things" that sometime subtly supplant the "one thing" we were made for. The one that drives all growth and gospel movement - PRAYER! Jesus gave us a model for prayer in Matthew 6. It wasn’t supposed to be something we merely recited word-for-word, but to give shape and direction to our prayer life! He said, “ Pray  like  this… ” P...

As we continue our series in Colossians this week, Paul lays out the beginning steps for our Christian walk with Receiving Christ, Remaining in Christ, and Rejoicing in Christ. As we continue in our series Colossians: Christ In You - The Hope Of Glory, if you go in to most bookstores that sell Christian books today, you will find books that teach, growth by “rule-keeping and discipline”, growth through “feelings and encounters”, growth through “methods and strategies”, and “growth through politics.” All of these things are a sort of slight of hand, that distract us from...
