The Lore You Know

It's the spookiest time of year, the awkward period between Halloween and Thanksgiving. Sad that the time of ghosts and ghouls is over? Well worry not, enjoy it for a bit longer as we bring you holiday hangover and discuss the creepy lore of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Viewer beware, you're in for... wait we did that one. Well welcome to Halloweentown...no wait we did that too. Well Jack has n...

Listener beware, you're in for an extra long holiday episode. Cross between worlds with us as we bubble over about the world of Halloweentown. What do creatures of the night eat? Where do they get their haircut? Do they go to dances? Do they have someBODY, to go with? Find out this and much more as we spend 2000 Halloweentown years talking about it (which is a few hours).

It's got swords, sorcery, spaceships, furries, and mummies. What more could you possibly need? Apparently, for less girls to watch it.  Let us journey through Third Earth and give you Sight Beyond Sight into the world of the The ThunderCats. We cover the old stuff and the new, tragically cut short but not before showing us some cool cats.

Let's get ready to WRASTLE. Everyone says that wrestling is fake, but the drama is real. But maybe the drama is fake, and the wrestling is real? Or maybe it's all real? We might be deep in the kayfabe, but we are taking you down with us, brothers. So oil up your biceps and dump a bucket of tacks on the ground because this week we are talking about the matchup of the millennia, the WWE vs the WCW b...

You can't have a lore show that doesn't get sucked into a FromSoft game. This destiny is written by the Old Gods in the very stars. So you've chipped away at us like a little guy with a sword and this week we are exploring The Lands Between. Will we gaze upon ultimate truth, or find only madness? Probably the latter.

They are the silent protectors. They are one with the night. They are big and buff and kind owo. They have been laying in wait, as unmoving stone, for a thousand years (since 1994). They have been storing power, waiting to be unleashed into the world once more, and we will unleash them. Join as as we talk about Gargoyles with our head in the clouds and our minds in the gutter. We will do our best,...

We all know the big strong guy from the side of all the taco trucks, but did you know he comes from an anime with lots of other guys? We were surprised too, but you Kaoi-Can power up your pop culture knowledge by listening to us sorting through the story of some of our favorite buff guys. We're so focused, we don't even make a draggin deez balls joke.

Oh boy this is a big one, but keep in mind if it doesn't make sense that's not because we are explaining it wrong, but because it is silly and complicated. Need to get caught up before the next phase of the MCU begins? Well this is like, a good first start probably. Colin was gracious enough to stop playing Marvel Rivals long enough to come back and gift his knowledge, like Prometheus (another Mar...

Pets. They are nice and all but what is the new thing, the next leap of a generation? Dressing them in outfits? Zapping them with rays? Giving them their owns pets? Giving those pets pets? We explore the possibilities of these "New Pets" as we dive into Neopia and the lore of Neopets. One wouldn't think the Scientologists would show up, though Viacom was to be expected.

What if soccer but with magic? How can we jazz up baseball? Can you run through the pool to win at swimming? Is blood sport a sport? What about chess? These are all questions one could imagine, and so we decided to do an episode about the many different sports of fantasy worlds. We know there is no rule that a dog can't play basketball, but how does a dog dribble?

Remember the Gingerbread Man story? What if there was a game like it? What if there were more cookies? What if they created society? What if they had racism and classism? In this episode, the wonderful Galestormkitsune of end credits fame graces us with their knowledge of this tasty little tale of cookie magic. There's a lot of lore baked into this one, but I guess that's just the way the cookie c...

Hold it! We submit that you do not yet know enough about the vibrant and colorful world of Ace Attorney. Objection! You can learn all about the wacky antics of this completely fictional system of law where rules are made up on the fly and precedence means nothing. Take that! Listen to our silly ramblings as we decide if this system of brutal efficiency would be a good fit for a society that needs...

We're assembling the team to take on a looming threat, and by that I mean we've got two buds together to explain the lore of a viewer-requested topic: Overwatch. Blizzard may have abandoned this story, but we will break it down and let you decide where the story would go. After all, everyone is an Overwatch (I think that's the tagline probably).

He-Man (He/Him) is a man that fights Skeletor (He/Him). They are men and them are not friend. They fight over orbs and swords, castles and vassals. They do whatever we want them to do, cause they are whatever we want them to be. He is man. He is Skeleman. We talk about it. Us is podcast.

Hiya there. This week the gang is taking to the stars (again) but this time with more animal characters. Check your G Diffusers and get ready to explore the universe. And also a dinosaur planet for some reason. Not an anthropomorphic dinosaur planet, just a regular one. But they talk. And there's a blue fox there, but you probably already knew that.  This is a game about shooting space lasers on r...

Bands: What even are they? Groups that play music. And what is music? Nobody knows, but sometimes these bards have lore and that's where we come in. Join us a we take a journey through genres and face coverings to discover the stories behind the music, and take a lot of detours along the way. This one is a real "Lore de force."

It's the distant future. The South has risen again, in space. The Space Bugs and the Space Nerds are fighting, but they don't know they are actually space cousins. There is one woman who is kinda both of them and also a human. Is this empowerment? That's for us to debate and you to decide on this Lore You Craft episode...I meant The Lore You Know.

Memory hacking, AI satellites, body swapping. If only there were pieces of media to help us predict the potential pitfalls of such technologies, especially as corrupt leaders and hackers attempt to use it against the population. Anyway, we are talking about Ghost in the Shell. Add this to the Torment Nexus Criterion Collection and listen as special guest Zach updates our memories with a cache of a...

This time we Tri, Tri again (wait I think we used that one already). Imagine a world that has been ravaged by mankind's wasteful disregard for scarcity and preservation. Now imagine we hitched it out of that world and went to Space Wild West. Grab a fist full of double dollars and wrangle up your riding chickens cause this week we are talking about Trigun and all the many Tri-s it tries to teach u...

It's lady's night again as the gals of The Lore You Know give the sitch on a true feminine icon, Kim Possible. Get your allyship points in by supporting women talking about women and women supporting their incompetent, more stoppable, male sidekicks. Wherever She go, We go, and He go and Me go too.

Do bugs have will? Do any of us, or are we just playthings of Gods? Who knows, but in this episode we talk about a little bug child and their deity father and all sorts of lil critters. If you feel the Radiance, don't fight it, just let it pull you like a moth to the flame.

Remember the days when they made TV shows really complicated, and also you could only reliably see them in order if you watched them at certain times, on certain days, and on a certain channel. Seems impossible right? Well...it's more likely than you think. Listen in to see what all the excitement was about circa 2004, and relive a time that was before *gestures broadly* all this.

It's that time of year again, one week after Christmas. So of course we have the perfect thing to get you back out of the Jingle Bell spirit by talking about reckless driving, real estate mergers, and of course, capitalism. Our New Year's Resolution is to always respect contract law and to become billionaires the honest, savory way. Happy Holidays everyone!

Break out your mini paints and clear every table you own, it's time to talk BattleTech. This isn't our first jump into a TTRPG, but this time we trade out a grim dark setting for a much more grounded, and therefore scarier, one. If there's one thing we know it's that giant robots are cool, so surely the gameplay must be interesting as well...right? You don't need to know how the big space ships wo...

The Power Rangers: Grim dark, angsty teens or colorful, campy crew? What if I told you, it's both. But also it's better when it's the second one. In this episode we explore not just a single show or movie, but a whole genre hailing from Japan called tokusatsu. From Super Sentai to the all American Rangers, it is a cultural exchange as diverse as the Rangers themselves. Go Go Power Rangers!
