The Dog Show Drive

This week on the Dog Show Drive, we begin with something nobody particularly enjoys, admitting we may have gotten a few things wrong. Yes, we have a couple corrections from last week. Then, Will opens the file marked “ Things that grind my gears” and shares a few incidents from the other side of the ring markers. We continue our look at performance sports, and this week we’re heading to the great...

This week on the Dog Show Drive, we’re putting on a few miles. First stop the legendary Montgomery County Kennel Club, quite simply the greatest terrier show on earth. We will take a look at the weekend, the dogs, and just how well the Canadians fared south of the border. Then we point the van west to Calgary for the Canadian Dog Judges Association Conference, where we discovered something rather...

This week on the Dog Show Drive, we’re taking a road trip. The team points the van east and takes a trip down to Cross Creek New Brunswick, for the CKC National Dog Show, where there are plenty of dogs, plenty of stories, and probably at least one conversation that begins with “ You’re not going to believe what happened…” We’ll also explore even more performance sports you and your dog can try, be...

This week on the Dog Show Drive, we take another trip down that wonderfully unpredictable road known as the dog show world. We start with listener email that gave us a good laugh, and, as the best emails usually do, gave us plenty to talk about. Then we wander beyond the conformation ring to explore the many performance events offered by the CKC. Because sometimes our dogs would like us to know th...

This week on the Dog Show Drive, Will-and Y are back behind the wheel, where the road is never quite straight and neither is the conversation. And then there is one very important question. I...

This week on Will and Y’s Dog Show Drive, we open up the viewer mailbag, and wouldn’t you know it, somebody has given us something worth pulling over to talk about. First, the proposal to raise the Canadian championship requirement from ten points to fifteen. Is it time for a change? Will it...

This week on Will and Y’s Dog Show Drive The dog show world can be a wonderful place. We gather around dogs, friendships, competition, and a shred passion that, for many of us, has become something of a family. But families also need to talk about difficult things. This week, Will and Y take on a subject that isn’t easy to discuss, but perhaps needs discussing more than ever, mental health in the...

Welcome back to the Dog Show Drive with Will and Y, where the road is long, the opinions are plentiful, and somebody is always willing to tell you where you made the wrong turn. This week, Will and Y wonder if social media, the thing that was supposed to bring us all closer together, is quietly stealing a little of our humanity along the way. Then it’s Part Two of our conversation about declining...

Welcome back to Will and Y’s Dog Show Drive You know, there was a time when if you wandered into a small towns fairgrounds on a Saturday morning , you’d find a dog show humming away. Coffee in one hand, lead in the other, hopeful hearts everywhere. These days, though, there seems to be a few more empty grooming spaces than there used to be. So this week, Will and Y pull up a couple of lawn chairs...

Welcome back to Will and Y’s Dog Show Drive You know, every good road trip has a wrong turn, this week we decided to prove it by attempting our very first live show. Once we found our footing, we settled into one o...
