Scars to Stewardship #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT From Scars to Stewardship: Your Trial, Your Testimony The Scripture "Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." (2 Corinthians 1:4 KJV) The Expansion We often wonder why we must walk through the fire, but the truth is that your pain beco...

PLAYING HURT #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us. 2 Corinthians 4:7 If you watch enough football, you will see it. The star receiver takes a hard hit in the second quarter. He is limping, he is taped up, and he is clearly not 100 percent. But he does not go to the locker room. He stays on the sideline, br...

THE GIFT TO BE SIMPLE #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT There’s an old Shaker song that goes: 'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free, 'tis the gift to come down where you ought to be. And when we find ourselves in the place just right, it will be in the valley of love and delight. The folks who wrote that weren't chasing a "slower pace of life" for the sake of a trend. They believed simplicity it...

CASHING IN #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT Back in 1972, Jimmy Rush and his father were eating at Wintzell's Oyster House in Mobile, Alabama, when they spotted a sign on the wall. It was a joke, a classic piece of restaurant humor. It read: "Free oysters to any man 80 years old accompanied by his father." The staff told them the offer was technically genuine, but in the history of the place, no...

There's a Snake in my…Helmet #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT First Peter chapter five verse eight "Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." Last week at Maumelle High School in Arkansas, a football player suited up for practice like any other day. He pulled on his helmet, ran drills, hit the field for nearly an hour, never suspect...

THE WEIGHT OF THE CARRY#NightLight RTTBROS "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28 I remember watching a tv show about a group of hikers on a trail a few years back. There was one guy who had a pack that looked like it belonged on a mule. It was oversized, overstuffed, and he was leaning forward just to keep from tipping over. Every few hun...

THE COST OF A MIRACLE #RTTBROS #Nightlight "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" — Mark 8:36 Imagine the scene: a parking lot in New Zealand. A 54-year-old woman collapses. Her heart stops. For a few minutes, she is, by every medical definition, dead. Then, a stranger steps in, performs chest compressions, and pulls her back from the edge. She’s...

HOLDING ON #RTTBROS #Nightlight "Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up." — Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 Did you know that sea otters hold hands while they sleep? It’s not just a cute habit; it’s a survival strategy. They do it...

THE PATIENCE OF THE SEED #RTTBROS #Nightlight #NightLight "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." — Galatians 6:9 (KJV) There is a species of plant called the Chinese Bamboo. When the seed is first planted, the farmer waters it and fertilizes it every single day. For the first year, nothing happens. Not a single sprout breaks the surface...

Work On Your Attitude #RTTBROS #Nightlight Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he." I was thinking a lot about work lately, not just in ministry, but just the way we go about our day. You know, life throws these unpredictable traffic jams at us. One of those huge graders goes to work on a highway repair job. When the machine is operating on a busy road, traffic is halte...

Walk And Talk: The Journey #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT

Knowing Where We Are Going There is a profound peace that comes from having a settled heart. This peace was beautifully illustrated by the legendary evangelist, Billy Graham. Many years ago, in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, Dr. Graham was invited to be honored by his hometown. At the time, he was struggling with the effects of Parkinson's disease and was hesitant to speak, fearing he...

When Prayer Meets the Road #RTTBROS #Nightlight "And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived." Genesis 25:21 Back in October of 2002, folks in the Washington, D.C. area were living under a cloud of fear that's hard to describe if you weren't there. For three weeks, somebody was shooting peopl...

Dealing With Anger #RTTBROS #Nightlight #BibleWisdomDaily Let me tell you something. I've been a custodian for over 20 years, and I've learned that when kids get angry, they make a mess. But let me just say, when adults get angry, we tend to make an even bigger one. I'm like Paul Harvey... 'Too soon old and too late smart.' I've spent 27 years in pastoral ministry and raisi...

How To Soar #RTTBROS #Nightlight #BibleWisdomDaily The other day I was out watering the flowers and I noticed a hummingbird feeding at some wildflowers that I had planted , And I started to think about our own efforts in faith. We build up a rhythm, don't we? A constant flapping. Dozens of beats a second, just to keep going. It's impressive, that hummingbird. It’s pure energy, and you know...

The Courage to Meet the Storm #RTTBROS #Nightlight "They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep... Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still." — Psalm 107:23-24, 28-29 I was walking the...
