The Worry Exchange #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV) "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." We live in a world that profits from our anxiety. Every news alert and every notification seem...

Wait...what #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT The Sacred Space of the Wait "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." — Isaiah 40:31 There is a difference between waiting and wasting time. When we are in a season of waiting, waiting for a prayer to be answered, a door to open, or...

ALL #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT The Changing Definition of "All" 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint Isaiah 40:31 Reflection: It is a humbling thing to realize that the definition of "giving your all" changes as the seasons of our lives shift. If you asked your twenty...

THE SONG #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT THE SONG BEFORE THE STRUGGLE I was thinking today about how we usually write the song after the victory. We wait until the battle is won, the dust settles, and the trophy is in our hands before we start singing about how great the win was. It feels natural to praise God for what He has already done. But there is something different about the song of Moses and the chil...

Tune Up #RTTBROS #Nightlight "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." — Philippians 2:5 If you watch a professional musician, you’ll notice something interesting. Every few songs, they stop. They don't take a break to talk to the crowd; they simply reach for the tuning pegs and give the strings a quick twist, a slight tighten here, a loosen there. To a casual observer, it looks l...

The Mirror #RTTBROS #NightLight #faith #trust #discipleship The Mirror of Crisis Proverbs 4:23 says, "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." We tend to think of crisis as the gym where our character muscles are built. We look at the storms in our lives, the job loss, the sickness, the family conflict, and we think, “This is what’s making me strong. This is what’s...

THE LEAD CAR #NightLight #RTTBROS Deuteronomy 31:8 KJV [8] And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. I’ve always hated being the first one in the convoy. Whether it’s a family road trip or a group of friends heading to a new spot, the person in the lead car has all the pressure. They’re the one...

THE COMMA  #NightLight #RTTBROS For most of us, the calendar turns from September 10 to September 11 with a heavy  heart . It’s a shift from the ordinary to a day forever marked by tragedy. But for some of us, that transition carries a piercing, personal weight. Last year, on September 10, Charlie Kirk slipped from this world. It felt like a cruel convergence, the sudden shock of losing a friend o...

THE TRAIL DICTATES #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT #NormanKissinger #NK I recently read about a family that spent seven months walking the Appalachian Trail, over 2,100 miles of wilderness. At the start, they packed exactly what they thought they needed. They had a plan. They had a system. But as the miles added up, they discovered a humbling truth: the trail dictates. The terrain decided how they dressed, h...

The Bucket #RTTBROS #Nightlight The Answer in a Stranger's Boat We often imagine that when God answers a prayer, it will come in a way that is clearly marked Divine. We look for the burning bush, the parting of the sea, or a sudden, miraculous windfall. But more often than not, God’s provision arrives in a plain boat, paddled by a stranger, carrying a bucket of fish. Consider the man on the riverb...

Scars to Stewardship #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT From Scars to Stewardship: Your Trial, Your Testimony The Scripture "Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." (2 Corinthians 1:4 KJV) The Expansion We often wonder why we must walk through the fire, but the truth is that your pain beco...

PLAYING HURT #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us. 2 Corinthians 4:7 If you watch enough football, you will see it. The star receiver takes a hard hit in the second quarter. He is limping, he is taped up, and he is clearly not 100 percent. But he does not go to the locker room. He stays on the sideline, br...

THE GIFT TO BE SIMPLE #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT There’s an old Shaker song that goes: 'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free, 'tis the gift to come down where you ought to be. And when we find ourselves in the place just right, it will be in the valley of love and delight. The folks who wrote that weren't chasing a "slower pace of life" for the sake of a trend. They believed simplicity it...

CASHING IN #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT Back in 1972, Jimmy Rush and his father were eating at Wintzell's Oyster House in Mobile, Alabama, when they spotted a sign on the wall. It was a joke, a classic piece of restaurant humor. It read: "Free oysters to any man 80 years old accompanied by his father." The staff told them the offer was technically genuine, but in the history of the place, no...

There's a Snake in my…Helmet #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT First Peter chapter five verse eight "Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." Last week at Maumelle High School in Arkansas, a football player suited up for practice like any other day. He pulled on his helmet, ran drills, hit the field for nearly an hour, never suspect...

THE WEIGHT OF THE CARRY#NightLight RTTBROS "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28 I remember watching a tv show about a group of hikers on a trail a few years back. There was one guy who had a pack that looked like it belonged on a mule. It was oversized, overstuffed, and he was leaning forward just to keep from tipping over. Every few hun...
