My name is Pauline (Sister Fabu). I am a reality poet. Being a woman who survived abuse homelessness, brought me here. Through this podcast, I will share my poetry, short stories and pieces of my memoir. I will ask you to share your experiences with me. We will find strength through each other. After getting out of my abusive relationship, I realize he still controlled me. I realize I was still a victim because I, was still living my life as if he was there. in order to transition from a victim to a survivor, I had to make changes to how I live and the way I think.

We should congratulate ourselves and use the positive things did during thanksgiving to help us through the end of the year. Suicide is up over 30%. Many people commit suicide during Christmas than any other holiday. Let that not be any of us or anyone we know.

Escaping from my abuser with my children was not easy but i did it. I now have a lifetime restraining order and I am happy. We should be able to make our own decisions. No one should control us. I want you to know if you are in an abusive relationship and you are ready to escape, you can. Get support. I am on the dancefloor waiting for you to join me. Happiness is waiting.

I went to visit my last apartment in Bronx New York. The apartment where I lived with my first abuser and a short time with my second abuser. I recall a lot of my memories in that apartment but no triggers. I do not know if it was because I had one of my sons with me. Whatever the reasons I was glad.

Being a survivor and living with not just one but two abusers, i wonder can an abuser change? i read it is possible if they really want to change. It is not for the victims to make them change. it is the abuser who needs to seek out the support and follow through.
