The Outer Reels

More pants (or lack thereof) talk in this week's episode, which is also the FIRST in Cirio H. Santiago's post apocalyptic movies. We've seen this car before, but now it's for the first time! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Listen in as we try to figure out if this is an actual rip-off of World Gone Wild as well as where are David Carradine's pants? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Tune in to hear about how Sam wants every villain to be like Waterworld's Deacon. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Such wasted potential! This movie has a great cast, mostly looks good, but just doesn't come together. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Sam encounters his longest prologue ever, while Jason goes and gets a drink. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Tune in to us trying to figure out if this is a stealth sequel to Wheels of Fire. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Battletruck, AKA Warlords of the 21st Century,, AKA the prequel to Terminus? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

There's some debate as to if this is actually a post apocalyptic movie or just a dystopian one, but in the end we feel Jason is justified. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Continuing our never-ending season on post apocalyptic movies, Sam found one that surprised both of us. It's not good, but it's a lot better than it really should be. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Jason subjects Sam to the third attempt to get a Pax TV show from Gene Roddenberry. Surprising no one, this one doesn't work either. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Be careful what poster you see before watching this as some of them make this look like a VERY different movie from what it actually is. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The second of three attempts at getting Gene Roddenberry's "Pax" series going leaves Sam angry this time, but at least he's only got one more to go. This one has the awesome John Saxon, so it's not a complete waste of time. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This one's got some serious Outer Reels royalty in it, but is an otherwise mediocre movie. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Jason subjects Sam to the first of three(!) made-for-TV movies that were an attempt to get a new Gene Roddenberry sci-fi series onto network TV in the early 70's. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Truly one we watched so you don't ever, EVER need to. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We were excited by this, and left disappointed. How do you have a movie "staring" Ernest Borgnine, and only use him for 16 minutes?!? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We were surprised by this one. It's not good, but it's a lot more fun than we expected it to be! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We're starting a new year with a new season: Forgotten Apocalypse! Jason cheats right off the bat with a movie that only has a slight apocalypse, but it does start with a small nuclear war, so it counts, damnit. We also welcome back our Returning Outer Reels Champion William Smith, for his 3rd appearance in one of our movies! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

"Some ex-cons and two helpless girls get trapped inside a mine shaft with a Temu Hills Have Eyes monster that never really becomes a threat." Sam nails that one. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Sam is annoyed that we even did this movie and spends more time talking about He-Man and Johnny Mnemonic, but Jason loved it. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This one's Event Horizon BEFORE Event Horizon?!? It's not a good movie (unlike Event Horizon), but we still have lots to talk about here. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Fun fact from Sam: Director Robert Culp shares a birthday with Cash of Tango and Cash fame. I'm sure you're better for knowing that. This one's an interesting time capsule that Jason enjoyed a fair bit more than Sam. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Sam makes rules onto to break them. Neither director on this movie is a "sometime", but it's fun to see the Shaw Brothers team up with Hammer Films. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We watched this Dan O'Bannon-directed Lovecraft story because Sam wouldn't let Jason pick Return of the Living Dead. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week we take a look at Sal Bass' only feature as a director: Phase IV. Bass is an artistic genius, and this is not the movie you might think it is from the poster. Also, Sam's still mad about Time After Time. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
