Creating 99 paintings was quite a task. I talk about the proces of creation, research, challenges and developments toward the exhibition which opened at the 18th of March 2023.

Together with Hakan Özcan I am looking back at the expositions (and adventures) we had with the Istanbul Amsterdam MEETUP. An exposition we held in The Netherlands and Turkey. The paintings we made depicted Dutch and Turkish culture; now what do we, as very diverse countries, have in common? The tulip! 

The Sultan with Tulips is one of large scale paintings of people who have been of great importance for the social, cultural, artistic and commercial meaning of the tulip   The works will be displayed in the future art exposition on the story of the tulip.   Link to the website of Peter Hengst.  

The tulip world is very big so there are many activities going on. I can map about 10 categories/sections in the tulip world. Most obvious are the businesses which have a link with tourism.
