The Fish & WHIP's Podcast

As I send my congratulations to Miami Marlins Manager Skip Schumaker on winning the 2023 NL Manager of the Year award, I also go over Peter Bendix being officially introduced as the Marlins President of Baseball Operations. Does this mean there's a farm system shakeup on the horizon? Also, the 40-man roster deadline came and went. Some names were kept, and some, surprisingly, weren't. I go...

With Kim Ng is out as the Miami Marlins GM, owner Bruce Sherman finds his new President of Baseball Operations in former Rays GM Peter Bendix! Join me and special guest Tony Alvarez (my Dad) as we explore the Kim Ng fallout, Peter Bendix's hiring, Jorge Soler opting out, Josh Bell opting in, and who the Marlins should target in Trades and Free Agency! You won't want to miss this!

Hey Marlins fans! After quite a long hiatus, I am back and ready to get the Fish n Whips Podcast back in gear. The Marlins are finally competitive at the deadline, and Kim Ng and the Marlins FO are BUYING. They've already made 2 trades this week for high leverage bullpen relief, and I feel like that is just the beginning. The Marlins have been rumored around several potential bats they can acq...

The Miami Marlins are over .500, yes, you're reading that right, for the first time in a 162 game season since August 2017. They head back to Miami for a home weekend series against the Seattle Mariners. I discuss the team's latest successes as well as its potential going forward.

The Miami Marlins have started their 2022 campaign with more low points than high, as they have a record of 5-8 heading into the 2nd game in their series against the Division Rival Atlanta Braves. The high points has been the starting pitching, Jazz Chisholm, Jesus Sanchez and Joey Wendle. They have all been putting the team in a position to win games, but they haven't been able to rely on the res...

The Lockout is OVER! Derek Jeter left! The Hot Stove of Free Agency just rapidly started, and big names are going for big $, and fans are having some serious FOMO. As Aaron Rodgers once said (before he was a loon) "R-E-L-A-X". The Marlins are not the team (at the moment) to go after big names with big signings over $100 million. That's not who they are right now, and that's OKAY. What they are is...

In the first episode of 2022, I Rank Off the Marlins Top Players of All Time, as well as some of the Worst! If the're are any players, best or worst, that I may have missed, feel free to point them out to me on Twitter @NicksTake22 or @FishnWHIPs

In this episode of The Fish & WHIPs Podcast, I go over the trade of Infielder Joey Wendle to the Marlins for OF Prospect Kameron Misner, My Evaluations/Grades of the Marlins transactions so far this offseason, and my emotional response in regards to the MLB Lockout.

So much good news to go over! Since my last episode, the Marlins aggressiveness to pursue players surged with with the signing of Avasail Garcia, extending Sandy Alcantara, and trading for Pirates catcher Jacob Stallings. Kudos to everyone involved on Marlins Twitter for making their voices heard, because I definitely feel like they were from Marlins brass, and they responded. We also have some ou...

The Miami Marlins 2021 offseason continues and headlines are being made. They haven't all been good though. Starling Marte has agreed to a 4 year $78 million contract with the New York Mets, of all teams. This is a sore wound for the fanbase that may not be healed. The fact that we could have extended Marte during the season at a much cheaper rate shows how much the Marlins FO bungled this entire...

Coming off a disappointing 2021 season, the Miami Marlins head into the offseason with an aggressive approach. They want to pursue top offensive talent in Free Agency and have told the fans that they will be opening their wallets to do so. But, as fans, we've heard this all before. It's for this regime to set themselves away from the past and finally commit to having a competitive (and potentially...

Well, it's happened. Miami Marlins Center Fielder Starling Marte has been traded to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for LHP Jesus Lozardo. The Marlins will also be paying the remainder of Marte's 2021 salary of 4.5 million to the A's in the trade as well. The Marlins receive a 23 year old talented Lefty with a lot of upside, and who happens to be a hometown kid. The A's receive an All Star calib...

In the words on the Loan Depot Park Press Box Ice Cream Machine, I'm back. The Marlins traded outfielder Corey Dickerson and pitcher Adam Cimber to the Toronto Blue Jays for infielder Joe Panik and minor league pitcher Andrew McInvale. What does this mean? Tune in to hear my take.

In this episode, I will grade the Marlins on their performances through the first 27 games of the season in my first Monthly Review. We will bring up some positives and negatives about the Marlins' start to the season, as well as go over the disappointing 3-7 road trip. Be sure to tune in, like, subscribe, and 5 STAR Ratings only!

After going 1-6 to start the 2021 season, the Miami Marlins has a very successful 6 game road trip against our division rivals, the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves. We split our shortened series with the Mets and had a fantastic 3-1 series win over the Braves, giving us momentum heading into this weekend's matchup against the San Francisco Giants. We also have our special guest, Coach Tony Alvare...

It's a Miami Marlins winning streak! The Marlins have now won their past 2 games, one against the New York Mets and NL CY Young award winner Jacob deGrom and this Monday night in extra innings against the Atlanta Braves. Due to solid starting pitching, great defense, finding a closer, and the offense showing signs of life, the Marlins look to be turning things in the right direction. I'll recap bo...
