Sailor Moon Cosmic Power Rewind

This week Usagi’s jealousy over Mamoru and Chibiusa leads her straight to an all-you-can-eat cake buffet, where Esmeraude is cooking up a deliciously evil plan for the Black Moon Clan. Between Usagi’s emotional cake binge, a dessert-themed Droid that feels a little familiar, and Tuxedo Mask delivering some truly sweet advice, there’s plenty of classic Sailor Moon silliness to enjoy. But the real s...

We LOVED this one! Chibiusa’s mysterious connection to the future pulls the Sailor Guardians into her mind, where the ruined Crystal Tokyo, the Black Moon Clan, and her fear for her mother all start coming together in a way that seriously felt like Sailor Moon meets Inception. But the big moment is finally meeting Sailor Pluto, and she instantly made an impression on us. Between the dreamlike trip...

We’re celebrating the end of Rubeus’ reign and one of our favorite Usagi moments yet! Usagi refuses to give up on her friends, even when Rubeus seems to have every advantage, but watching Sailor Moon and Chibiusa finally work together, with Chibiusa trusting Usagi enough to help bring Rubeus down really makes this episode for us! We’re revisiting Sailor Moon R Episode 27 and Chibiusa is testing EVERY ounce of our patience. We really enjoyed this episode, especially as Rubeus makes his desperate move and the Black Moon story starts racing toward its conclusion, but stealing Usagi’s brooch leads to some seriously painful consequences. Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus put everything on the line to protect Chibiusa, only to b...

This one felt HUGE. The penultimate chapter of the Rubeus saga cranks up the intensity almost immediately. Petz and Calaveras come in swinging, Chibi-usa finally discovers that Usagi and the girls are the Sailor Guardians, and suddenly one of the biggest secrets of the season is out in the open. Then there’s Sailor Planet Power! Seeing the Guardians combine their strength against the dimensional t...

We’re giving Ami the spotlight in this episode as we revisit Sailor Moon R Episode 25, “For Friendship: Ami vs. Berthier,” and yeah, we loved this one. Ami and Berthier facing off is such a fun matchup, especially when their water powers go head-to-head and their rivalry carries all the way into a high-stakes game of chess. But what really makes this Sailor Moon R rewatch hit is the heart undernea...

This episode gives Sailor Mars the spotlight she deserves. Rei and Koan’s fire-powered showdown is thrilling, but what really makes the episode work for us is everything it reveals about Rei. She can absolutely be a hothead, pun not intended, but underneath that fire is someone who believes deeply in love, loyalty, and protecting the people she cares about. That becomes even more powerful when Koa...

We’re revisiting Sailor Moon R 2x23, “Awaken the Sleeping Beauty: Mamoru’s Distress,” an episode where Mamoru continues making the breakup way harder than it needs to be. Our Sailor Moon R rewatch podcast digs into Mamoru’s mysterious nightmares, Usagi’s heartbreak and jealousy, Chibiusa accidentally drawing the attention of the Black Moon Clan, and the race to save Usagi after she’s trapped under...

Our Sailor Moon R rewatch podcast reaches “Protect Chibi-Usa: Clash of the Ten Warriors,” and Chibiusa is seriously winning us over. Watching Usagi and the Sailor Guardians race to protect her from Rubeus and all four Spectre Sisters turns into an incredible magical girl showdown, but it’s the sweeter moments that really got us. Chibiusa finally realizes that Sailor Moon is someone she can trust,...

This episode of Sailor Moon’s Cosmic Power Rewind takes us to the beach for Sailor Moon R 2x21, “The Beach, the Island and a Vacation: The Guardian’s Break,” a banned DiC episode that gives the Sailor Guardians a sunny little break from the usual chaos. We’re talking Rei’s island training, Chibi-Usa’s dinosaur friendship, beach episode silliness, and why this one is fun and breezy even if the whol...

We’re talking Sailor Moon R episode 20, “Usagi’s Parental Love: the Curry Romance Triangle,” and how this sweet little curry adventure quietly gives us one of the warmest Usagi, Mamoru, and Chibiusa episodes so far. Chibiusa is missing home, Usagi is trying so hard to help, and Mamoru gets pulled into the middle of it all in a way that feels surprisingly cozy, emotional, and a little bittersweet....

In this episode of Sailor Moon’s Cosmic Power Rewind, we’re revisiting Sailor Moon R Episode 19, “Dispute Over Love: Minako and Makoto’s Conflict!” What starts as a simple conversation about romance quickly turns into a surprisingly fun argument between Minako and Makoto, giving us one of the most entertaining character pairings in the series. Along the way, Chibiusa stirs the pot, the Spectre Sis...

Between Chibiusa trying to toughen up, Koan corrupting the shrine’s training hall, an...

In this episode of Sailor Moon’s Cosmic Power Rewind, we’re breaking down Sailor Moon R Season 2 Episode 16, “A Guardian’s Friendship: Goodbye, Ami!” in our rewatch podcast + retrospective. Honestly, we loved getting an Ami-focused story again. It’s light and sweet on the surface (ice cream shop antics, Chibiusa doing Chibiusa things), but it’s also quietly emotional because Ami is staring down a...

In this episode of Sailor Moon’s Cosmic Power Rewind, we’re breaking down Sailor Moon R Season 2 Episode 15: Usagi Devastated: Mamoru Declares a Break-Up and we’re equal parts in love with the drama and furious that Mamoru basically dumps Usagi out of nowhere after those crystal-city visions start wrecking him. While Chibiusa clings to him, the Tsukino family gets hypnotized, and Usagi spirals har...

Our Sailor Moon rewatch podcast dives into “Angel or Devil? Mysterious Girl from the Sky,” and the moment the series flips into a whole new arc when little Usagi (Chibiusa) literally crashes into everyone’s lives. We’re breaking down her chaotic first impression, the hilarious but suspicious “cousin” situation (no, not THAT cousin situation), and how this episode balances comedy with a real sense...

In this Sailor Moon R rewatch podcast, we’re breaking down Season 2 Episode 13, “True Love Awakens: The Makai Tree’s Secret,” the emotional finale of the Makai Tree arc where everything finally comes together. We talk about Ail and An’s tragic story, the reveal that the Makai Tree needed love instead of energy, and how Sailor Moon’s compassion changes everything in the end. Most importantly, this...

This Sailor Moon rewatch podcast got surprisingly intense, because “Disconnecting Love: The Raging Makai Tree” is where the Makai Tree arc stops feeling weird and starts feeling genuinely tragic. In this episode of our Sailor Moon Season 2 rewatch and retrospective, we’re talking about how desperate everything gets once Ail and An realize all that stolen energy still isn’t enough. Between Mamoru g...

This week on our Sailor Moon rewatch podcast, we’re talking about “After School Trouble: Usagi is a Target,” a weirdly funny and surprising Sailor Moon Season 2 episode that puts Usagi and Natsumi on a collision course. Between Miss Haruna’s chaotic detention, the ridiculously competitive “who gets Mamoru” challenge, and Natsumi literally running on empty, this one has that classic mix of comedy,...

We’re talking about Sailor Moon R episode 10, “Steal a Kiss from Mamoru! Ann’s Project Snow White,” and this one is pure chaotic magical girl theater in the best way. Between the Snow White stage play, Ann doing the absolute most to get close to Mamoru, and Usagi getting stuck as the Evil Queen, this episode gives us comedy, jealousy, romance, and full-on second season weirdness all at once. GET Y...
