Rage Cage

When we lived in Japan during my childhood there, we lived in this apartment in Suma-ward of Kobe city, dubbed "Radio Kansai", because the 2nd floor was actually a radio station. Pretty ironic, considering I would be part of the radio world years later here in Calgary! Back in the summer of 1998, I visited Radio Kansai at their new location in Kobe Port. They were nice enough to give me a tour of...

Congrats to the organizers and artists for the very first Stoodis Festival, which took place last weekend. Wishing you all further success in the future. Also, congrats to our very own HELLRAZER for winning the Metal Recording of the Year for "Serve the Machine"! So, now that the summer is officially over, and the leaves are already changing colours (and falling), and perhaps some of us are alread...

So much from the Cage this week: look-back to Calgary Metalfest 2016, couple of new releases, re-living '91 with G N' R (I remember those albums flying off the shelves when I worked at HMV back then) and Ozzy, and so much more, all under 3.5 hours! How about that? Also, shoutout to my friends, Scott and Jody, we FINALLY met after years of following each other on social media. You can check them (B...

It was Friday, September 11, 1992: this was when yours truly walked into the old basement suite of CJSW office, and became part of this radio family! Never thought I would be part of this for more than 30 years, and going batshit crazy with the Rage Cage (since Jan., '93) while crankin' up heavy tunes every week. Lot of it has to do with dedicated ragers, like YOU! Thank you for giving me the reas...

After weeks of more rockier (and at times, poppy) episodes, we are back in the heavier, deadlier vein! Also, big THANK YOU to 5 Ton Aaron and Heavy Fleet Boys at Lordco Auto for letting me know how much the Cage means to you! Stay awesome! Playlist: Dead Heat - Enemy Dying Remains - Chamber of Cruelty Kruelty - Untopia Demonic Manifestation - The Evil Lurks Atomic Aggressor - Evil From Beneath Kri...

Ugh, even after vacation, my never-ending dominoes of BS continue! To add insult to injury, Mr. Reaper takes Dolly, Mr. Curry and "Optimus Prime" Cullen from us! Damn you! After all these decades in Canada, can't believe I haven't visited Ottawa, until now. Thanks for the lovely hospitality, Ottawa, and Happy 200th! Still a bit jet-lagged, ... yes, even after just 4 hours of flight, ... I'm old. Taking a more "laid-back" approach this week, but still, plenty of heavy tunes, 'cos it's still the RAGE CAGE afterall! Lastly, R.I.P. Frank Beard. Playlist: Sophie Lloyd -...

New releases from Nunslaughter, Iron Slaught, and Metaladian. After that, it's all about the DECIBELS, baby! Loud enough to shatter any sound level meters, powerful enough to keep those "fun police karens" away! Stay LOUD AND PROUD! Playlist: Iron Slaught - The Executioner Nunslaughter - Die Your Own Death METALADIAN - Deaditation Pantera - Proud To Be Loud Razor - Fast and Loud Lost Society - Fas...

First off, like to send my congrats (and gratitude) to Team Japan: at FIFA, you once again proved that you're a tough team to beat, you exceeded our expectations. You've played well, you're still champions in my book. You're truly "samurais"! Well, from samurais to cowboys, ... and outlaws: as it THAT time of the year in Calgary, yours truly brought you cagefull of villainous tunes for your badass...

Wow, my Team Japan, the "blue samurais", they're truly on a roll in FIFA. They've definitely stepped up to another level! Keep at it, go Japan go! As for my other team, haven't forgotten about you Canada. You've been giving it all, you're still doing us proud. Go Team CANADA! As for the Cage business, what did yours truly have in store for you this week? Well, it's almost Canada Day, so I had you...

Story time! One of my favourite (and top!) courses was drama, which I took throughout my high school years. Also acted in numerous school plays as well, and when I broke the news to my teachers (and even to my high school principal!) that I was accepted by U of C for Drama major, they all told me, "I knew you'd make it!". My principal even said, "You might be back here in few years TEACHING drama!...

It's FIFA time again, good luck to both CANADA and JAPAN! Well, since everyone's sharing their "first time we met" stories on social media, as it typically seems to be anniversary season, instead of getting annoyed, ... what the heck, I'll share mine too! What? Nat Kaos was actually in LOVE at one point? Believe it or not, it's true! It was the summer of 1992, when I visited Japan for the first time since childhood. It was there, when I met Izumi. When o...
