Q on queue

"Q on queue" is about a lot of different things - life, inspiration, music, family, faith, and so much more. In each episode, you'll hear a lot about my own life and some of what's been on my mind. Most of the content for this show will center around my faith, my love for music, my career as an educator, and much more. My desire out of this podcast is that we can do life together. I might do a lot of talking, but I'm hoping it will be more of a conversation. Thanks for joining me on this journey with me, as I bring to you what I have - on queue. Q on Queue 114: Daily Bread, Not Weekly Survival 27.05.2026

Send us a message In general, as a society, I think a lot of people are more exhausted than they even realize - not because they never rest, but because their entire life has quietly become a cycle of surviving until the next break. This means we push hard, crash, recover just enough, and then start the whole process over again. There’s nothing wrong with looking forward to rest. But when your ent...

Q on Queue 113: Finish Well, Not Just Fast 22.05.2026

Send us a message As the finish line of a demanding season comes into view, it’s easy to slip into survival mode - just trying to make it through the week, the month, or the school year. But in this third episode of the "Refuel" series, we talk about the difference between simply finishing fast and actually finishing well. Because when we rush emotionally toward the end, we often stop be...

Q on Queue 112: Refueling the Right Way 14.05.2026

Send us a message Not everything that feels like rest truly restores us. Sometimes we confuse escape with renewal, filling our free time with distractions that temporarily help us disconnect without actually replenishing the deeper parts of us that are worn down. In this second episode of this 4-part series, we explore the difference between chasing relief and building healthy patterns that truly...

Q on Queue 111: Running on Empty 04.05.2026

Send us a message It's almost the end of the school year. For school staff, many at this point of the year are just exhausted - but it's way more than being just tired, it's depletion. There’s a difference. Tired can be fixed with rest. Depletion runs deeper. It shows up when you’ve been giving, carrying, and pouring out for a long time without enough space to be refilled. You can s...

Q on Queue 110: Placed On Purpose 22.04.2026

Send us a message I called this series Context Changes Everything because the way we see our value, our purpose, and even ourselves is often shaped less by who we are and more by WHERE we are. When the context shifts, clarity follows, and things that once felt uncertain start to make a lot more sense. After talking about considering whether we're in the wrong room or haven't realized our...

Q on Queue 109: What Actually Determines Worth? 08.04.2026

Send us a message What am I using to measure my worth? Because if we don’t define that clearly, we’ll spend a lot of our lives chasing something that was never meant to hold that kind of weight. For some of us, we measure our value based on what our society says, asking questions like: Did I get enough done? Did I perform well? And then: Who noticed? Did it get recognized? And even: How do I stack...

Q on Queue 108: The Wrong Room 31.03.2026

Send us a message Think about any time you've purchased a bottle of water. In a large pack, that single bottle might be worth $.25 or less. In a large sports arena, that bottle costs $10 or more. What changed? Not the water, but the environment. One of the hardest things for us to recognize in life is that environments don’t just reflect value - they can actually reshape how you see yourself....

Q on Queue 107: Courage at the Crossroads 17.03.2026

Send us a message Eventually, after the burnout questions, after the holy discontent, and after the ordinary faithfulness, many people find themselves standing at a moment where a decision actually has to be made. That’s what today’s conversation is about - the crossroads. At some point in life, almost everyone arrives at this point for one aspect of their life or another. When people imagine a cr...

Q on Queue 106: Obedience in the Ordinary 09.03.2026

Send us a message We've talked in the last two episodes about Burnout and Holy Discontent. Burnout - when we are just plain worn out and tired, but our job isn't over. Holy Discontent - when there's something stirring in us for something better and new. Sometimes peace lifts because God is deepening something in us. But here’s the tension: once you recognize holy discontent, the tem...

Q on Queue 105: Holy Discontent 03.03.2026

Send us a message In the last episode, we talked about burnout, and how it has a way of shrinking your perspective. Sometimes we mistake burnout for a disruption in our calling, and oftentimes we just need to pause and rest and not completely hit the "reset" button. But today, in part two of our "Right Place, Right Time" series, we’re going to turn the tables a bit.  What about...

Q on Queue 104: Burnout is NOT a Calling 24.02.2026

Send us a message When you’re overwhelmed, stretched thin, and running on fumes, everything starts to look like a problem - your job, your ministry, your relationships, even your purpose. But what if the issue isn’t your location… it’s that just your just plain burned out? In this first episode of our new series "Right Place, Right Time", we take a real look at what burnout feels like, h...

Q on Queue 103: Renewal of the Heart 16.02.2026

Send us a message You can have a renewed mindset and a re-centered sense of purpose, and yet carry a quiet heaviness that doesn’t quite lift. That’s often because renewal isn’t complete until it reaches the heart. The heart is where our desires live, where our wounds linger, and where fatigue tends to hide the longest.  There’s a kind of tiredness that doesn’t show up on the surface. It isn’t phys...

Q on Queue 102: Renewal of Purpose 10.02.2026

Send us a message In the last couple of episodes, we’ve been talking about renewal - what it means to be restored, and how renewal begins quietly in the way we think. When our minds start to shift, clarity begins to return. But clarity doesn’t stay abstract for long. Eventually, renewed thinking asks a deeper question: What is this shaping me toward? Because when the mind begins to renew, it natur...

Q on Queue 101: Renewal of the Mind 27.01.2026

Send us a message Our minds are constantly being filled - by responsibilities, expectations, information, comparison, fear, and urgency - sometimes all at once. We learn to live with “mental noise” the same way we learn to live with background sound, until it’s so constant we forget it’s even there. What we think shapes how we live. It influences how we see ourselves, how we respond to others, and...

Q on Queue 100: Renewal 19.01.2026

Send us a message One hundred episodes. It represents a journey that didn’t always feel clear or easy, but one that continued anyway. If you’ve been listening for a long time, thank you for being here. And if this is your first episode, I’m really glad you found your way in today.  I am not one that really sets resolutions, but instead I choose a word for the year - a word that becomes my focus fo...

Q on queue 099: The 4 Seasons - Ep 4: Autumn 06.01.2026

Send us a message Autumn is a season that often arrives without much fanfare. Autumn doesn’t demand our attention the way other seasons do. It slips in quietly, marked by subtle changes: priorities shifting, rhythms slowing, and the growing sense that something is winding down. We need to realize that Autumn is not a season of failure or loss. It’s a season of wisdom. Autumn reminds us that lettin...

Q on queue 098: The 4 Seasons - Ep 3: Summer 16.12.2025

Send us a message Today, we arrive in summer - the season of abundance. Summer is where growth becomes visible, where things feel fuller and more established, and where the work of previous seasons begins to bear fruit. It’s a time of joy, productivity, and confidence, but also a season that requires attentiveness. Summer invites us not only to enjoy what has grown, but to steward it well. In this...

Q on queue 097: The 4 Seasons - Ep 2: Spring 10.12.2025

Send us a message This is part 2 in our new series related to the "Seasons of our Lives".  This week, we shift to SPRING - the season where things begin to come alive again. After months of quiet, after the work God has been doing in the hidden places, spring is where we start to see hints of life, hope, and direction. Not all at once. Not in a dramatic burst. But slowly, gently, almost...

Q on queue 096: The 4 Seasons - Ep 1: Winter 02.12.2025

Send us a message We all move through seasons in life - times of growth, times of challenge, times of change, and times of joy. Just like the natural seasonal cycles through winter, spring, summer, and autumn, our lives follow a similar rhythm. Some seasons invite us to slow down, some push us forward, and some reshape us in ways we never expected. And whether we recognize it or not, each season h...

Q on queue 095: Scrabble 29.08.2025

Send us a message Have you ever played Scrabble and felt the rush of laying down the perfect word? Maybe it was one that hit a triple word score or cleverly used up all your letters. There’s something deeply satisfying about seeing those points add up, especially when you’ve been staring at your tiles for what feels like forever not sure if you’re ever going to make up a word. Scrabble is more tha...

Q on queue 094: Battleship 18.08.2025

Send us a message Have you ever asked yourself this question: "What am I really aiming for right now?" A lot of our energy can get spent chasing moments that feel exciting in the short term but don’t leave us with much lasting meaning. We stay busy, we keep moving, and yet sometimes we realize we’ve been firing off effort and attention in a hundred different directions without really loc...

Q on queue 093: Checkers 01.07.2025

Send us a message There’s something so simple, yet so enjoyable about a game of Checkers. The game has a simple board of 64 squares, identical pieces facing each other, and only one real objective: keep moving forward. Unlike so many games out there, there are no complicated rules, no major power pieces, and no elaborate strategies. There are just simple moves, one after another, building toward v...

Q on queue 092: Jenga 17.06.2025

Send us a message Every one of us is building something. We’re stacking experiences, relationships, responsibilities, dreams, and goals on top of one another. Some of these pieces feel rock-solid, while others feel a little risky. And just like a Jenga tower, sometimes we don’t fully recognize how much weight we’re carrying until the structure starts to sway. The question isn’t whether we’re build...

Q on queue 091: Connect 4 03.06.2025

Send us a message Human beings are wired for connection.  Research consistently shows that meaningful relationships are one of the biggest contributors to overall happiness and well-being.  We are kicking off a new series for the summer based on one of my family's favorite pasttimes - BOARD GAMES.  This week we kick off this new series with an episode called “Connect 4”.  We’re going to be ta...

Q on queue 090: Recalibrate - Finding Your "True North" Again 27.05.2025

Send us a message We often moments of sacred quiet - the times after a big moment has passed, when one season ends and another is set to begin - we try to force clarity or hurry into what’s next.  But maybe this pause isn’t a problem to fix. Maybe it’s a gift. Maybe it’s here to invite us into something deeper.  Life is built in the quiet transitions between those big moments.  There are times all...
