Pop Cult

Welcome to Pop Cult: The Fame Files Today we’re taking a break from our regularly scheduled programming and we are playing a fun little guessing game based on our past episodes. We each pick someone from the reality we’re watching, our fame files episodes, and various other categories and guess who the other is thinking of. This reminds us of playing the “animal game” and “presidents game” that we...

We have a stacked lineup this week, and sadly we say goodbye to one of our favs. We don’t think the Earle family is going anywhere anytime soon though. Love Is Blind is particularly dismal this season and we really only have about 20% faith in 1 couple. DWTS really through us for a loop and honestly, we had whiplash by the end of it. We’re feeling like RHOSLC was a filler episode this week but I g...

Welcome to Pop Cult: The Fame Files Pop culture’s biggest girlboss has entered the conversation this week and we talk about how in under 10 years Kim Kardashian has created a $5 billion industry. The Fame Files is part of Pop Cult, where we unpack pop culture’s biggest stories, scandals, and icons. Join us on Tuesday for our next episode of Reality Digest, where we’ll cover the previous weeks’ pop...

When one door closes another one opens in the form of a new Below Deck franchise. And this time it’s the original. We already have our predictions of who is going to sink or swim this season. Pun intended. We also give our take on the DWTS drama and who we think are the front runners this season, though it should be obvious. What is not so obvious is the direction in which the Kardashians will tak...

Welcome to Pop Cult: The Fame Files This episode felt fitting as one of our favorite Special Forces cast members was part of one of TV’s most tumultuous family shows. This week we are unpacking the multitude of drama that surrounds this family after over 15 years in the public eye. It’s extremely controversial and difficult to know what to think. We suspect that the truth lies somewhere in the mid...

We are sad to leave behind our favorite Below Deck crew but very excited that we won’t say goodbye to the franchise for very long. Shockingly, we were on a certain season villain’s side this final episode. Special Forces, while heavy this week, continues to come out on top for us. We are unsurprisingly obsessed with the DS and would never be able to make it through this weeks challenges. We are ha...

Welcome to Pop Cult: The Fame Files We’re back with a celeb deep dive this week and this time we’re talking about one of Hollywood’s most down to earth members - Riley Keough! If we haven’t convinced you to watch Daisy Jones & The Six (the best show ever made) by the end of this episode, we have done a terrible job. But there’s much more to her and we had a blast unpacking it all.  The Fame Fi...

It’s Pop Cult ONE YEAR!!!!! We can’t believe it’s been a whole year of chatting about our favorite shows and favorite moments throughout pop culture history. What better way to celebrate our anniversary than to STILL be talking about Below Deck???? Always one of our favorite shows to recap, we are sad to say that Med is ending next week. But fortunately just in time for Below Deck REG to start up....

We couldn’t be happier to say goodbye to The Girls cast who we somehow have made it through a whole season learning nothing about. We’re not holding our breath on the return of this one (thankfully). Our favorite Utah residents are back in full swing with the drama and we have thoughts on the ladies judging Bronwyn’s new relationship. Our second favorite Utah residents go traveling and we were equ...

Welcome to Pop Cult: The Fame Files This week we are chatting about a bunch of iconic roles that we all know and love - and could never imagine anyone else playing. But much like interviewing for a job, these shows also “interview” multiple people for these parts. We found ourselves shocked, surprised, and mind blown a couple of times - especially finding out that Reese Witherspoon may have not be...

Our favorite housewife franchise has made its return. It’s defrosted like the snow in Utah and we can’t wait to see what unfolds this season. Especially with Bronwyn at the head. Mormon Wives continues to give us heart palpitations but at least we’ve seen growth in a couple of them. We’re becoming more invested in Earle Meets World, particularly when it comes to her very fascinating family dynamic...

This week we welcome the train wreck that is and always has been The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives back onto our screens. Much to our surprise, we only have 5 episodes this season, which perhaps is the best thing for all of us. We discuss how this show is hanging on by a thread and how it got to this point. We’re slowly warming up to Alix Earle’s TV debut and we have to say, if we were a particular...

We’re coming at you a few days late due to some ~scheduling conflicts~ but fear not as we have a full lineup. We have a new show on the block. Netflix never misses with reality shows so we’re hoping Alix Earle’s big screen debut is no different. The Girls on the other hand still leaves something to be desired. Like who ARE these women??? Genuine question!! We’re sad to leave House of Stassi behind...

Welcome to Pop Cult: The Fame Files This week we are chatting and hypothesizing about the phenomenon of the term “nepo baby” and why those that aren’t nepo babies have such a strong opinion on the matter. To be clear, we applaud a nepo baby for drawing that kind of luck and taking advantage of their position. No judgement here. But where did this term come from? And why has it in recent years take...

The ghost of summer's past, Love Island USA is BAAAACCKK for the reunion and we have a lot to say about a lot that was left unsaid and un-asked. Unlike the Let’s Marry Harry reunion where the major players - sans the literal lead - had maybe toooo much to say. Below Deck is getting continually messier and with a certain bosun back on board the future seems bleak. And correct us if we’re wrong...

Welcome to Pop Cult: The Fame Files This scandal has recently been on our minds with The Girls premiering on Hulu and one member of this incident recently getting married, with a very curious character in attendance. We are diving into one of the many cheating scandals among Khloé and Tristan’s relationship, however this one was shocking because the 3rd party, Jordyn, was basically like family to...

We’re feeling on top of the world this week because after 21 weeks of, honestly psychological torture, we are officially DONE with The Valley. This show is on THIN ICE with us for season 4. Where one show ends another one allllwaaaays begins. This time is Khloe Kardashian’s solo debut, The Girls. We’re not so sure how we feel quite yet but we do give Hulu their props for making reality tv feel fre...

Welcome to Pop Cult: The Fame Files In anticipation of the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars we wanted to do a celebrity deep dive on one of the fabulous, albeit sometimes chaotic, hosts. We talk about Julianne’s childhood and long history in the ballroom dance world, her successes, and relationships. We get into all of it.  The Fame Files is part of Pop Cult, where we unpack pop culture’s...

If there’s one thing Harry Jowsey is NOT going to do it’s keep us on our toes. We’re p sure he’s already “divorced” which is the most unsurprising news of the week. Nonetheless, we will still be watching the reunion of course. Speaking of divorce, we’re hoping that our stars of House of Stassi are not headed that way because we ship them. We also ship Katie and Kristina and feel that they can over...

Welcome to Pop Cult: The Fame Files This week we’re throwing it back to 2011 to unpack one of the most dramatic and shortest celebrity marriages. We dive into how they met, the issues leading up to their marriage, and the divorce that we were all expecting, just maybe not quite so soon.  The Fame Files is part of Pop Cult, where we unpack pop culture’s biggest stories, scandals, and icons. Join us...

For a short time we welcome the not-so-masterpiece that Alex Cooper has been hyping up for MONTHS - Let’s Marry Harry. The only conventional thing about the plot of this show is that Harry has in fact NOT changed. At all. We eagerly wait for what we assume to be a very unsurprising ending. On the opposite side of the spectrum is currently our favorite show with Queen Stassi. And you know what? We...

Welcome to Pop Cult: The Fame Files Each year a fresh-faced group of 18 year olds gears up for the “most important moment” of their college social lives. This phenomenon became known as Bama Rush and later evolved into Rushtok as universities across the country shared the inside scoop of the sorority recruitment process from both sides. Now, every year we scroll on TikTok and watch the endless vid...

This week we bid adieu to the debut season of In The City. We will certainly be watching season 2 but honestly the jury is still out. I think we, along with the rest of the world, have sufficiently beat the Scamanda dead horse and we are happy to announce that we are officially moving on. We wish we could say the same for The Valley but we do in fact have 3 more weeks of what is sure to be a pains...

Welcome to Pop Cult: The Fame Files As a continuation of our Cooper vs Earle episode from the other week, we are breaking down 5 separate celebrity feuds and condensing them into the need to know information. Some of these feuds lasted for YEARS, some are squashed, some are still ongoing, some we couldn’t even begin to tell you what the vibe is.  The Fame Files is part of Pop Cult, where we unpack...
